Work has been pretty crazy lately… the kind of crazy where the days blur together and you start wondering if you’re running on caffeine or pure stubbornness.

If I’m honest, I’m probably getting close to burnout.

Long hours, constant pressure, and that feeling that no matter how much you do, there’s always more waiting. It can sneak up on you before you even realise it.

Does this sound familiar to anyone else?

So many of us are pushing through, keeping everything going, showing up every day even when we’re exhausted. But sometimes it’s worth pausing for a moment and asking ourselves — is this really how we want to spend all our time?

For me, it’s another reminder of why I started looking at different ways to earn and build something of my own. Not because work is bad… but because life shouldn’t be only work.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re running on empty, you’re definitely not the only one.

Balancing a full-time job and a side hustle isn’t easy — but it’s absolutely possible with structure, discipline, and a clear reason why.

I’ve worked in hospitality my entire life. Long hours. Early starts. Late finishes. It’s a demanding industry, and after decades in it, I know firsthand how draining a full-time role can be. But I also knew I couldn’t rely on just one income stream — especially thinking about retirement and long-term stability.

So I built a side hustle.

Here’s how I manage both:

1. I treat my side hustle like a second job — not a hobby.
It has scheduled time in my calendar. Even if it’s just 60–90 minutes in the evening, that time is protected. No mindless scrolling. No distractions.

2. I focus on consistency, not intensity.
After a long shift, I’m not trying to conquer the world. I aim for small, productive actions every day. One post. One conversation. One task. Over time, those small actions compound.

3. I use discipline over motivation.
Motivation comes and goes — especially after a 10-hour shift. Discipline is what carries you through. I show up whether I “feel like it” or not. That mindset has helped me in work, business, and even on the mats in jiu-jitsu.

4. I protect my energy.
I don’t waste time on things that don’t move the needle. I’ve become more intentional about where my energy goes — at work, in business, and with family.

5. I remember my reason.
For me, it’s about security. It’s about options. It’s about not feeling trapped as I get older. My side hustle isn’t just extra income — it’s peace of mind.

If you’re working full time and thinking about starting something on the side, here’s the truth: you don’t need more time. You need a plan and commitment.

It won’t always be comfortable. But building something of your own rarely is.

The key isn’t working harder — it’s working smarter and staying consistent.

If I can do it after decades in a demanding industry, so can you.

We had such a lovely chilled afternoon at Minikin.

It was so special watching Isla design her own pottery dish from scratch — carefully choosing her shapes and colours, completely focused and in her element. There’s something really calming about sitting back with a coffee while she gets creative.

Moments like these are what it’s all about. Simple, relaxed, and full of memories in the making. 🤍

Spring isn’t just a season. It’s a reset.

It’s a reminder that no matter how long winter feels — in life, in business, in our goals — change is always working behind the scenes. Seeds planted months ago are preparing to break through the soil. Efforts that felt unnoticed are building roots.

This is the time to:

• Clear out what no longer serves you
• Revisit goals you set at the start of the year
• Start something new — even if it’s small
• Get back outside and move your body
• Let fresh energy in

Nature doesn’t rush, but it doesn’t stay still either.

As the days get brighter, let that be your cue. Open the windows. Take the walk. Make the call. Launch the idea. Have the conversation.

Spring is coming — and with it, a fresh chance to grow. 🌱

Sometimes it hits me just how quickly time moves. My daughter is nearly an adult now, with her own strong views and her own path unfolding. It makes me proud, but also reminds me of all the long hours I’ve spent working over the years, often at the expense of time with my family.

That’s one of the biggest reasons I started my online business. I wanted the chance to step away from the constant grind, to create something that not only supports us financially, but also gives me the freedom to be present for the moments that really matter.

I can’t turn back the clock, but I can make sure the next chapter of my life is different — more balance, more time together, more memories.

At the end of the day, business isn’t just about money. For me, it’s about building a life where I don’t have to miss out on the people I love most.

Over the past 15 years, my family has shaped me more than anything else in my life.

They’ve seen me at my best and at my most exhausted. Through long hours at work, chasing goals, worrying about the future, trying to build something meaningful — they’ve been the constant.

They’ve taught me patience.
They’ve taught me perspective.
They’ve taught me that success means nothing if you’ve got no one to share it with.

Being a partner and a dad has changed how I make decisions. It’s not just about me anymore — it’s about legacy, stability, and showing up consistently. It’s about being someone they can rely on, even on the days when I’m running on empty.

Over these 15 years, I’ve grown softer in the right places and stronger where it matters. I’ve learned that presence is more powerful than presents. That time really is the one thing you don’t get back.

My family hasn’t just been part of my journey — they’ve shaped the man I’ve become.

And I’m still learning.

This photo honestly feels like it was taken a lifetime ago.

Blue skies, warm air, no layers, no grey clouds hanging over everything… just light, warmth, and that easy feeling summer brings. Right now it’s 3°C, raining, and I’m wrapped up like I’m heading for the Arctic rather than just stepping outside.

It’s funny how quickly we forget what sunshine feels like when you’re stuck in weeks of drizzle and cold mornings. Looking at this picture reminds me how much better I feel in sunnier climates — more energy, clearer head, lighter mood.

Counting down the days until I can swap this cold, damp air for some proper sunshine again. I’m ready for brighter mornings, longer evenings, and a bit of heat on my face.

Roll on sunnier days. ☀️

Not going to sugarcoat it — work has been intense.
Burnout has been creeping closer than I’d like.

Then today, a letter of support from the boss lands.
Timing couldn’t have been better.

It hit home how important support and options are.
And why I’m grateful I took the leap into my online business.

Security isn’t just a job anymore — it’s choices. #
