Not every call we receive is about the usual pests and wildlife!

This week, we got an emergency call about a python that had gotten loose. While it’s certainly an unusual call, escaped exotic pets can happen — and when homes are close together, a loose animal can quickly become a concern for more than just its owner.

Thankfully, a local reptile rescue was able to safely take the snake into their care. They’ll work to determine where it came from and, if its original home can’t be found, help find it a new one.

We’re always glad when a situation ends with everyone safe — even when “everyone” includes a python. 🐍

Pest of the Month: Spotted Lanternfly

WHAT’S IN THE CHIMNEY??

We got a call around 7 pm about some unexpected noises coming from a chimney.

Our first thought? Bats. 🦇

But after taking a closer look with a special camera, we discovered something else -- baby birds! 🐦🐦

Sometimes you just have to investigate to find out exactly what's going on.

And while we didn't get any video of the birds themselves, we did get plenty of footage of Dave figuring out how to get to them!

What looked like an ordinary hay bale turned into a painful surprise.

The homeowner had saved a hay bale from last fall and planned to use it in their garden. But when they went to move it, they unknowingly disturbed a yellowjacket nest hidden inside -- and were stung multiple times.

Even with the rain coming down, Dave responded quickly to safely remove the nest and eliminate the threat.

Yellowjackets don't wait for perfect weather, and neither do we.
