Oxidation and paint failure rarely begin when the surface is damaged.

They often begin earlier through exposure, maintenance habits, water quality, chemical interaction, temperature, and process inconsistency.

A chemical that appears safe in one condition may behave differently when heat is added. The Thermo Fisher Scientific Chemical Compatibility Chart shows chemical resistance changing between 20°C / 68°F and 60°C / 140°F.

That matters because painted surfaces do not stay at air temperature in direct sun. Darker colors can absorb heat faster, and surface temperature can climb well beyond the outside air temperature.Now add the wrong chemical, the wrong dilution, or too much dwell time and you have increased labor, worse looking equipment and more maintenance.

The result may not look like damage immediately. But the surface has already started receiving information.

But surface is not only about whether something looks clean today, it is about how long until that surface breaks down?

Highly alkaline cleaners can attack certain materials, including aluminum and given an increased corrosive environment such as dirt combined water we have surface failure mechanisms. That is why the wash process matters. The problem is not always the environment.
