Position Details:

SENIOR WATER OPERATOR
Oversees the supervision of all junior positions, safety programs, and support functions. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner with a strong work ethic, skilled in troubleshooting problems, comfortable working with pumps, motors, and similar systems. They are also highly skilled with electronic monitoring, data acquisitions, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA – or similar) monitoring and control, and capable of making repairs to piping, pumps, and disinfection equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Hopi/ Hopi Veteran Preference
• Utility Experience on Native American Lands.

Duties include maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, customer service and water testing. This role works directly with the senior water operator to support their needs while learning all aspects of the utility. Based upon successful performance and utility budget, this role is eligible for promotions based upon the advancement of the person’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and be able to communicate to many different types of people. We provide training!

This includes the leadership of the utility staff, oversight for all regulatory and compliance requirements, collaborative interactions with organizational and tribal leaders, positive relations with the public and ensuring consistent and quality water transmission services. The successful person in this position has solid experience with water transmission systems, public utilities, and management of functions and people. This role must be politically savvy, have strong presentation skills and a positive approach for all situations. This position is the face of the company and will be expected to interact with the federal government, regulatory agencies, tribal authorities, organizational leadership, and the public in a positive and professional manner.
