This, submitted by a trugreen customer. Camera had the tech pushing a completely empty spreader around the yard. Never once filled it. This is NOT an uncommon practice with big green and other companies. Private companies are told to set their spreader on 3, throw a few prills of fertilizer, and mark as completed for billing. We see it more often than people think.

Newer, elite varieties of Kentucky bluegrass tend to have slower spring green up compared to other lawn grasses, especially perennial ryegrass. Newly sodded lawns are also more dense than seeded or older lawns, resulting in a thick canopy of dormant leaf tissue in the spring. If you are wanting to push your lawn out of dormancy, once you are seeing forsythia bushes start to bloom in your area you can apply a light application of water soluble nitrogen to jump start growth. Wait two weeks and then mow off the dormant tissue on top to reveal the new undergrowth and allow more sunlight to pe*****te through to the fresh growth. In certain areas of high traffic where early growth is essential (soccer goal mouths) grow blankets can be used to invigorate and protect new tissue.
