Hey Gang! Well, it's the end of January and since it's too cold to work inside the hangar I decided to run some stats for 2025 while enjoying the heat of the office.

The #1 spark plug that was sent in for service in 2025 was the UHRB32E. Next four are as follows: RHM40E, RHB37E, URHM40E and the #5 spot was tied between REM40E and the URHB32S fine wires.

All in all, there were 45 variants (different part numbers) that we took care of. Holy Cow!

It's always nice to have a spare set of spark plugs on hand, especially at annual time. Gather up those plugs and send 'em in, we'll take care of them and get them back to you in a jiffy!

Just finishing packing up a large order (50+) for Racal Aircraft before going to the 52F Property Owner Association meeting later tonight. Hey gang! When you're installing a new or spare set of spark plugs remember to take care of the plugs that are being replaced. Most times those plugs can be cleaned, tested and rotated back into your stock. One thing we see is that the plugs being removed are just tossed into a box or container and forgotten about for a while. That's tossing Avgas money down the tubes. The pic shows what can happen in a couple of weeks, so just coat the threads with some LPS1 or whatever you can so that the moisture can't get to them. Put them in a Zip Lock bag and store them that way, or better yet, send them to us and when serviced, they'll come back to you sealed with a desiccant pack in the tube! In case you already have some starting to corrode, we will run a chase down the threads so that your cylinders aren't affected. Thanks for all the business. Blue Skies!

I've seen more Champion fine wire plugs fail the resistance test than pass it and it's very concerning to me, even though I sell new plugs. Dug up this 10+ year old article that Mike Busch, Savvy Aviator wrote! Enjoy!

Happy New Year! Hope everyone is getting settled in and the "4" isn't getting changed to "5" too much.

If you need spare spark plugs I have a bunch of RHB 32E's in stock that have gone through our process and are ready to go to work. They come with a new gasket and sealed in the tube with a silica pack. $19 each plus shipping. These new are $48 at Spruce!!! Just holler, thanks!

Here's a corker. An old friend who flies behind an IO550 in a nice 36 Bonanza sent me 6 fine wire plugs for refurb. When I opened up the package and had a good look with a magnifier (step 1), they all looked used but good. Next on to the resistance test where 5 of the 6 failed! Seemed strange to me so I skipped a couple of steps and checked them under pressure just to make me feel better. They all fired! Back to the resistance and the 5 still failed. Put a few fines that I have in stock through the resistance tester with positive results, so the instument was good. Refurbed the good one (you can tell which one it was in the pic) and called my old pal to give him the news. He was relieved to find out that the ones he removed that were actually bad, they were indicating poorly on the JPI. When he replaced those old fines with new massives, the aircraft ran quite well on all 12 plugs! Trust your analyzer, have spares on the shelf in case your plugs are on the edge! Thanks, Bob!

Had a customer send in a set of plugs that were probably on the shelf for a while. We were able to clean them up pretty well and all passed the final tests with flying colors. Folks, please use some LPS1 or CorrosionX on any plugs you pull and save for future use, it'll save them and you some time and money! To replace these eight would be about $350.00!
