"Wellness is the intentional unfolding of the whole self in pursuit of optimal (not perfect) health and wellbeing of body, mind, and spirit."

Life+Wellness Coaching brings the whole woman to the session. When a woman has spent most of her adult life working, achieving, serving, hustling, and grinding, she can feel less than whole.
~
Feeling exhausted, anxious thoughts, difficulty sleeping, guilt & shame, loneliness, and a sense of unworthiness (imposter syndrome) are alive and well in women in midlife.
~
Good news--> You can operate at a high level and not grind yourself into the ground. Exhaustion and sleepless nights aren't necessarily JUST because of menopause and midlife.
~
Guilt, shame, and unworthiness--> Dump that old baggage! It is OLD and doesn't belong in your life.
~
Nutrition, conquering negative thoughts, movement, pursuing dreams that make you feel alive, healthy relationships, and robust spiritual life are all the ingredients of Life+Wellness Coaching.

For a woman moving into midlife, it means a decrease in hormones. Unfortunately, estrogen and testosterone seem to have protective benefits for our brains.

Did you know that two-thirds of the Americans living with Alzheimer's are women and women over the age of 60 are twice as likely to get Alzheimer's than breast cancer?

Ladies, we have to learn how to take care of our brains! And what is good for our brains is good for our entire body.

Creating brain-healthy lifestyle habits isn't hard.

This is what I do:
1) I strive to get eight hours of sleep every night.
2) Drink 1-2 cups of green tea every.
3) Eat 1 cup of blueberries every day.
4) 1-3 tablespoons of high-quality extra virgin olive oil every day.
5) Exercise. Three days of strength training, cardio that makes me sweat 2-3 days a week, and walking every day
6) I strive for 9 servings of vegetables a day.
7) Prayer, meditation, and a strong solid spiritual life.
8) Healthy, loving relationships.
9) Have a healthy s*x life.
10) Having a creative outlet.

What I reduce or cut out:
1) Toxic relationships
2) Diet Soda
3) Gluten
4) Dairy
5) Processed foods

I'm going to be 55 this year and this is nothing like I thought it would be.
-
I have unloaded more mental, emotional, religious, friendship, and self-image crap in the past five years than I did in all the years before!
-
Talk about liberating! And hard, I had a lot of fear to face. I had a lot of lies to confront. Lots of decisions to make.
-
There is definitely a sense of urgency and importance when it comes to time. I don't want to waste anymore of it of pain, unforgiveness, feeling unworthy of peace and success.
-
I have spent countless hours obsessing over beliefs that rob me of joy and peace, not to mention exhaust me.
-
Being in midlife makes me want to pull things into focus and only put my energy into what is truly important; My marriage, my relationship with God, growing deep friendships, building a new career and taking really good care of my health; body mind and spirit.
-
I love this season of life. It feels fresh. I am exploring myself, my faith, and the world with a different view.
-

LOVE.YOUR.BODY!

Why does that seem like such an outrageous idea?!

Well, women have been trained to believe that we are no longer beautiful, appealing, useful or desirable when we are in out 50's, 60's and beyond.

BS! IT'S TOTAL BS! God help us all if we hit our peak at 21 years old!

Aging isn't a curse. We never age out of the right to be healthy, relevant, deserving, or love our bodies.

A great way to love your body is to move it!

Park in the furthest parking space a take the long way into Whole Foods.

Meet a friend for a walk or hike!

S*x is good, too!

Ladies, join me in pushing back against the youth obsessed message that aging is a curse.

Love yourself and your body today. Do something loving for your body.

Move it. Feed it veggies, Give it sunshine. Give it rest. Let someone hug you. Laugh, Cry. Stop saying mean things to yourself.

Have you taken a risk lately??

And I mean the kind of risk that means taking a chance on yourself. The kind of risk where you let your heart lead for a little while. The kind of risk where you pursue joy, peace, and excitement (yes, you can have both at the same time.).

Risks take courage. Courage is like a muscle that needs building. It's okay to start small.

For me starting a new career in my mid 50's feels like a risk.
Posting on social media can definitely feels like a risk.

The bigger risk...not following my calling, ignoring my dreams, and living in the land of "what if I had actually tried that?".

I refuse to get to the end of my life and have to regret NOT taking a risk.

Yes, risk means the chance of failure. Risk by definition means the chance of injury or loss. :-0

Risk to me means kicking fear, doubt, and all of the voices that tell me I can't to the curb and stepping out in faith.

Here's what I found always to be true--> God ALWAYS gives me the courage I need. That doesn't mean I'm not scared, unsure, or doing things perfectly. But it does mean when I say "yes" and take the risk courage is there and something good always comes from it.

Starting something new or pursuing a dream that has been shelved for a long time can feel risky and even silly.

I dare you to start today by writing down that thing you've been putting of because it feels too risky.

Now, ask God for the courage to pursue it and see what happens. Promise to share it with me. Promise?!

*As women it's easy to believe our only purpose is to serve and give and do and sacrifice and produce, etc...
*But remember, you matter. Your health, your heart, your dreams, your thoughts, your goals, your pain, your past and your future matter.
*Being of service and caring for our loved ones will always be a priority, that's who you are.
* But right now, I am giving you permission to slow down and remember you matter.
