IDP Engineering Consultants

IDP Engineering Consultants IDP Engineering Consultants is made up of a group of Colorado State University civil engineering students.

Right now, IDP is helping plan and design a water bottling facility in Puerto Rico for an international water company called Alka-Water. Tyler Lund is the project lead and he handles most of the business and management side of the project. Rafael Vidal is the main graphic designer for the firm. Devin Blanch and Jeremy Begley are structural and geotechnical engineers for the firm, and Corey Martin is another structural engineer.

Tyler is currently a senior at Colorado State University double majoring in Civil Engineering and Construction management. In the summer of 2012, Tyler worked for Kiewit Corporation where he was in charge of two field work teams. In this, he obtained the knowledge of getting the right people together to complete those tasks at hand while keeping up with the needed logistic work of the company. Tyler has a passion for project management and has obtained a thorough knowledge of drafting to help the major design aspects of the project. This passion to lead and drive for perfection will cultivate to produce an amazing design for the client.

Devin Blanch is currently a civil engineering student at Colorado State University. Currently, he is enrolled in Foundation Engineering as well as Design and Behavior of Steel Structures in order to have a strong basis for structural engineering. Last summer, Devin was a civil engineering intern for the Federal Highway Administration, and his job was specifically an on-site inspector. He learned to work hand-in-hand with contractors and construction workers to make a project come together. He also learned how to read and compare plans to specifications, and if necessary, address problems in the plans that needed to be corrected before being built. Devin is very passionate in making a design that will not only stand the task of time, but one that the client will be proud to own.

Jeremy Begly is a senior at Colorado State University majoring in Civil Engineering. Prior to entering CSU, Jeremy attended Trinidad State Junior College where he was involved with two Colorado Space Grant Consortium projects. He was the team leader of a balloon payload to study greenhouse gases to 100,000 feet above the surface and presented the findings to engineers at Jet Propulsion Laboratories in Pasadena, California. Additionally, he served as a leader on the Robotics Team to create a robot that would autonomously navigate its way in sandy and rocky terrain. At CSU, he has also taken part in ASCE’s annual Steel Bridge Competition. He effectively managed to work with teammates to meet the goals at hand and meet the deadlines required. Moreover, Jeremy has worked in the construction industry for JB Builders, Inc. for five years until February of 2008 gaining insight in the field. Since 2008, he has worked for JUST Architectural & Engineering, Inc. During his time here, he has gained valuable experience in designing both architectural and structural sets of plans for both residential and commercial buildings. He has designed and specified structural members, foundation sizes and reinforcement, and connection details. Moreover, he inspected the quality of the work and ensured the design drawings were followed by the general contractors. He obtained valuable knowledge in working with both the clients and contractors to reach the finality of project. Jeremy’s attention to detail, team mindset, and desire for excellence will lead to the overall success of the project at hand.

Corey Martin is a first year senior at Colorado State University studying Civil Engineering while pursuing a focus in structures. Over the summer of 2012, he did an internship with an organization called Engineering Ministries International, where he traveled to Zambia, Africa to help design a retreat center for The Navigators. Over this internship, he learned many AutoCAD skills. He also obtained valuable knowledge in the process of working with a client while trying to bring their expectations to reality. Moreover, he was able to gain significant experience working firsthand with a structural engineer while designing the buildings. This work experience has kindled his desire to work with structures while serving others at the same time.

Rafael Vidal is currently a senior at Colorado State University majoring in Civil Engineering. Rafael is also CEO of a company called Healthy Elements LLC in Colorado and Sales Manager of AlkaWater, Inc. in Puerto Rico. In 2011 Rafael had the opportunity to work along with engineers and sub-contractors at the AlkaWater, Inc. facility to make improvements to the facility and design new water distribution lines. All this experiences served Rafael and shaped him into a well-prepared, diligent, and collective-minded person.
