Think the other party is earning money “under the table”?

Don’t just say it. Document it.

In a family-law case, evidence showing income that isn't reflected on financial disclosures may be relevant when the court is determining financial issues.

Why this may matter to your case: Evidence of additional income may help a pro se litigant support their position regarding child support, alimony, financial disclosures, or a request for the court to consider actual earning ability.

Evidence may include: bank deposits, payment-app transactions, business advertisements, invoices/receipts, employment records obtained through proper discovery, and other lawfully obtained financial records.

PRO SE TIP: Your job isn't simply to tell the judge, “They're getting paid under the table.” Your case is stronger when you can point to admissible evidence that supports what you're alleging.

💡 FLORIDA FAMILY LAW FUN FACT: STEPPARENT ADOPTION 👨‍👩‍👧❤️

Did you know that in Florida, a stepparent adoption can do much more than simply change a child’s last name?

Once finalized, the stepparent becomes the child’s legal parent , not just “Mom” or “Dad” at home. ❤️
But here’s something many families don’t realize 👀:
👉 A stepparent adoption generally requires addressing the other biological parent’s parental rights. Consent may be required, but Florida law also provides circumstances where a court may waive a parent’s consent ; including certain cases involving abandonment or when parental rights have already been terminated.

✨ BONUS FACT: Florida law generally does not require a final home investigation for a stepparent adoption unless the court directs otherwise.

That can make stepparent adoption different from many other types of adoption proceedings.
