Just doing a little bank fishing before dark. I’m gaining a lot of confidence in the G- blade. I trimmed down the Bellows vibe for a trailer as these blades have a smaller profile. The small profile didn’t stop that 8 lb from dropping the hammer at Mickey’s pond a few weeks ago

I’ve only caught 2 other bass off this particular dock in 3 years And this is a Florida. The most finicky bass God made.

A lot of wind right now so naturally I’m chopping blades

The new G Blade is a hammer.

When I’m not using a trailer, I almost always add a piece of plastic worm to my jigs and spinnerbaits.

The reason comes down to how bass feed. Bass open their mouths and create a vacuum that pulls prey in. Adding a little bulk to the wire gives them something to pull against, helping the bait get sucked in more effectively and improving hookups.

Hey, hey… 22K!

A sincere thank you to everyone who follows this page and takes the time to learn about fisheries management, fish biology, and proper fish handling. Every person who is willing to learn and keep an open mind makes a difference.

The past few years have been challenging for me. A tick bite led to ongoing health issues, and navigating the healthcare system has been stressful at times. If I’ve ever been short with anyone or come across as impatient, I apologize. It was never personal.

I truly appreciate those of you who care about fish, healthy fisheries, and having thoughtful discussions. This community has grown far beyond anything I expected, and I’m grateful for every one of you.

I’m looking forward to continuing to share what I’ve learned from years of fisheries work, pond management, and my own observations in the field. Here’s to the next chapter and to helping even more people better understand the fish we all enjoy.

Thank you for 22,000 followers. I appreciate every one of you. 🎣🐟

Leaving a tarp on your lawn long enough will kill the grass underneath.

That’s the best way to visualize what happens when lily pads cover too much of a pond. The shade blocks sunlight from reaching the phytoplankton—the microscopic plants that form the foundation of the aquatic food chain.

When you kill the base of the food chain, you’re reducing the pond’s ability to produce fish.

I’m seeing the article by .cermele138 for making the rounds, and I’m proud to have been interviewed for it. Seeing your name in a magazine like Outdoor Life is pretty surreal.

I started this page because I saw a major disconnect between what many anglers believe is good fisheries management and what fisheries science actually shows. My goal has always been to bridge that gap with facts, research, and the expertise of professional biologists.

I’ll keep doing my part to promote science-based fisheries management and elevate the voices of the people who dedicate their careers to understanding these resources.

Alpha Gal Syndrome

Tick bites are no joke. Check yourself after you get home.

I haven’t gotten these weird hives in a while. These will pop up on my hands and head after eating dairy.

I am severely allergic to red meat and slightly allergic to pork & dairy. I am on Zyrtec, Allegra, Pepcid, montelukast and I take a mast cell inhibitor.

Your Dr is ill prepared to determine what causing your health problems if you have alpha gal. They will run up a pile of bills a mile high and not give you any answers.

I would encourage all sportsmen to screen for it annually.

Every time I post about culling bass, someone says: “Why not just relocate them?”

Because I’m not dumb enough to film myself committing a wildlife violation.

Also, moving bass and dumping them into other waters is a great way to damage that fishery’s population balance.

If you think relocation is the answer, you don’t understand fisheries management.

I always release the spawning male bluegill

That deep purple coloration is a mature male bluegill in breeding condition—basically his war paint.

During spawning, males darken dramatically as hormones kick in, signaling dominance and helping defend nesting colonies. These are the fish that build the circular beds in shallow water and aggressively guard eggs and fry.

One of freshwater’s most underrated forage producers when managing for trophy bass in ponds - I want to release these dark male bluegill because they are just doing their job (nest guarding) when they attack a jerk bait
