“Now’s NOT the right time, I have to [X] first.”

x = build the perfect website 🚧 (my personal favorite)
x = lose weight🙋🏽‍♀️
x = take all the courses ✔️✔️
x = get the lighting right 💡
x = have a cute home office 💻
x = DO WHATEVER THE HELL IS HOLDING YOU BACK📣

Yup. I had those thoughts, too. Having fear or self-doubt doesn't mean you’re weak, it means you're human! We all feel that way at one point or another.

One of the biggest mistakes I've made (and still do, sometimes) is trying to shut fear down because I don't like the way it makes me feel. Then, I beat myself up about it and become a total judgmental bitch to myself. Yep, I'm a freaking pro at it, but so is fear and it keeps coming back usually when I least expect it. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I finally figured out (with a lot of help) that by doing this, I was giving more power to the fear, and the more power it has, the more all-consuming it becomes. FML

The good news is, that you can turn fear on its head by taking action even when you’re afraid. Do it anyway! Fear will only keep you thinking small. The way I see it, the more afraid you feel, the more you’re about to grow! Embrace the crap out of it. Then make it your bitch.

Decide what you want and take action. Don’t accept any excuses! Take the steps you need and do the work to create the result.

Remember, there’s no “right” or “wrong” decision. The only thing that will hold you back is indecision.

Easily Distracted By Shiny Squirrels✨🐿️

Some people call it Shiny Object Syndrome. Other people call it Squirrel! Syndrome. I call it Shiny Squirrel! Syndrome and I still get a good case of it every once in a while. Instead of focusing on the big picture tasks, I get sidetracked by a shiny new business idea or project.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You might think... hold the hell up Leslie! Not every new project is a bad idea!! Creating new things is how I roll!!! (arms crossed, shooting laser daggers at me with your eyes).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
OK, I hear you and you would be correct, you sassy bitch. Sometimes, a new product or service is exactly what you need to take your business to the next level. The thing is, you gotta figure out if it's actually a good idea or if it's just a shiny squirrel running around doing squirrely stuff in your head, trying to distract you and move you away from your goals.

Here's a pro tip for you. If that shiny new idea or exciting new project isn't in alignment with your 5-year vision (you know, that vision that you have to set your world on fire and create the business of your dreams... yeah that vision!), if it doesn't take you one step closer to everything you've ever wanted, then it has to go.

I can tell you that once I started viewing all my CRAZY ideas through that filter, it was so much easier for me to keep my eyes on the big picture and stop all the distractions I seem to love to create.

Look at that girl. She was 19 and thought she knew EVERYTHING!!!

I've always had some kind of business or side hustle. I can remember as far back as the days of AOL and Windows 3.0 when "Google it" wasn't even a thing, I wanted to break out of the 9-5 grind.

There was never anyone in my life, at the time, that owned a business, but it never felt weird or scary to me to dive right in... even when I had no fu***ng idea what I was doing.

I had a business deal go south early on and it scared me. I hung up my entrepreneurial hat, moved to Florida, and got a 9-5 in the tech side of new home construction.

And even though I really enjoyed my job and made a good living, I was getting tired of seeing that hat collecting dust. So when the stars aligned (more like collided) and the opportunity came, I started a business as a full-time travel agent. And it was glorious!

Then a strange thing happened…

Every time I felt really good about the business, I’d put up an imaginary roadblock in my own path. Like, I had to learn more, do more, or be 1000x better just to experience the joy this simple dream gave me. Looking back, I made it nearly impossible to reach it. I thought it – or I – wasn’t enough.

Since then, I’ve learned that simple is more than “good enough”. It’s the key to joy and happiness in business and in life. Be thankful for simple pleasures, simple goals, and simple steps.

When things start getting complicated, it usually means something’s off. Listen to your instincts, get back to your core, and do whatever you need to do to find your Simple again.

I’m about to talk about something you may find boring... I gonna talk about business systems. If you are a creative entrepreneur, you may be cringing right now at the mere mention of something so structured and un-sexy. 1) Discovery Systems. Before your first client can pay you, she has to know who the hell you are and what you do.

2) Relationship Systems. Once she’s found you, she's going to want to get to know you.

3) Sales Systems. The final piece of the super sexy system puzzle is to make the sale.
