Did you know Wally Frank sold corn cob pipes? 🔥🌽

I sure didn’t.

I recently stumbled across these three vintage Wally Frank De Luxe Corncobs, and once I saw those original red heel labels, I knew they needed to come home to Southern Gentlemen Pipe Company.

Wally Frank was advertising corn cob pipes by at least 1948, putting these old smokers right into a fascinating period of American pipe history.

I gave all three a very light cleaning and fitted one with a replacement stem, but that’s where I’m stopping. No full restoration. No trying to make 70+ years of character disappear.

These pipes have earned every darkened rim, mark and bit of patina they carry.

The plan now is to build or find a proper shadow box and display all three together as part of the SG-I collection.

Sometimes you don’t restore history.

You preserve it. 🔥

🌽🔥 COB TUESDAY — SOUTHERN GENTLEMEN STYLE! 🔥🌽

There's just something about an old-fashioned corn cob pipe, a good to***co blend, and a little American attitude. 🇺🇸

Today, “The General” has been called back into active duty! Loaded up with some good old-fashioned Captain Black Original and ready to get down to business.

The Duke is standing watch, the tampers are within reach, and life is pretty darn good.

No fancy to***co required. No expensive briar necessary. Just a trusty cob, a little nostalgia, and an appreciation for the simple things in life.

As the saying goes...

🔥 A Little Mountain Magic After Dark 🏔️

Dark as coal outside, crisp mountain air rolling through the hills of Western North Carolina, and an old lantern casting its warm glow across the porch.

Tonight's lineup? A trusty Sasieni Mayfair loaded with some good old-fashioned Prince Albert in the Can, a cold Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest, and absolutely nowhere I need to be.

No city lights. No traffic. No hustle and bustle. Just the mountains, a glowing ember, and a little peace and quiet.

Sometimes the finest things in life aren't fancy or expensive. They're the simple moments that remind you why you work so hard in the first place.

An old pipe. An old lantern. A cold b**r. And a mountain night.

Life is good, gentlemen. Life is damn good. 🍺🔥💨

🔥 Front Porch Therapy — Southern Gentlemen Style! 💨

Some evenings just call for slowing down, pulling up a chair, and enjoying the simple things in life.

Tonight's companion? My trusty Falcon pipe sporting a Gieske-designed cob bowl, packed with some good old-fashioned Prince Albert in the Can.

Nothing fancy. Nothing complicated. Just a good pipe, a classic to***co, and a front porch overlooking the mountains of Western North Carolina. 🌄

Now, if somebody could kindly get Mother Nature on the phone and convince her to turn that thermostat down about 20 degrees, we'd have ourselves a PERFECT evening! 😂🤣

Sometimes the best things in life aren't expensive. They're the moments when you realize there's nowhere else you'd rather be.

🍂🏔️ A LITTLE SLICE OF MOUNTAIN HEAVEN 🏔️🍂

There's just something about a rainy, cold evening in the mountains of North Carolina that makes a man appreciate the simple things in life.

The rain is falling, the mountain air is getting chilly, college football is playing on the big screen, and there's a cold Coors within arm's reach.

And the pipe? Well, she's loaded with good old-fashioned Prince Albert.

Speaking of Prince Albert... you've gotta love North Carolina! Walked into the local grocery store and there it was. A whole tub of Prince Albert sitting on the shelf like it was 1965. Naturally, I couldn't leave without it! 😂

No fancy plans. No big-city noise. Just an old pipe, some honest to***co, a little football, and the sound of rain falling through the Carolina woods.

Some folks spend a lifetime chasing the finer things. Sometimes the finer things are the simplest things.

Life is good, my friends. Mighty good.

🌽🚗 THE ADVENTURES OF THE TRAVELING COB — DAY 2 🏔️

Well, folks, we've officially wrapped up Day 2 of our journey from Florida to the mountains of North Carolina.

And let me tell you something... this old Cob has OPINIONS! 🤣

A few things we've learned along the way:

🌽 He absolutely LOVES the backroads of rural Georgia. Small towns, country roads, and a slower pace of life. That's his kind of country!

🚗 Traffic jams? NOT A FAN! Apparently, this Cob has places to be and no patience for foolishness.

🏔️ Crossing into North Carolina put a little pep back in his step. Mountain air will do that to a fellow!

🛏️ After two long days, countless miles, and more than a few adventures, the Traveling Cob has officially called it a night. He's tucked in, resting comfortably, and dreaming of tomorrow's adventures.

Some folks collect souvenirs when they travel.

We collect stories. And apparently, this Cob is determined to become one! 😂

Stay tuned, folks. Something tells me the Traveling Cob is just getting warmed up!

Meet the cousins. 🇮🇹🤝🇮🇪

There’s actually a reason I bought this Savinelli.

When I first saw it, something about the pipe looked damn familiar. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but I liked it enough that I probably paid more than I should have. 😂

Then it finally dawned on me…

Sitting in my collection was its Irish cousin — my Peterson 309.

Put them side by side and the family resemblance really starts to show. Big muscular bowls, sweeping bent stems, bright metal collars and two classic shapes with plenty of personality.

One Italian. 🇮🇹
One Irish. 🇮🇪
Definitely not twins… but I’m calling them cousins. 😁

And now that the Savinelli restoration is finished, they can finally hang out together properly.
