We just wrapped the 48th meeting of The Institute of Healthcare Executives and Suppliers, (IHES) in Dallas.

It was a masterclass in what happens when you put smart people in small rooms and give them space to work through the real problems facing our industry. Nobody performing. Nobody selling. Just executives and suppliers solving the same problem from both sides of the table.

Our General Session was outstanding. Emmy Award winner Dan Buettner walked us through his Blue Zones work on longevity and aging, and what it actually takes to build environments where people thrive. If you haven't seen his Netflix documentary, "Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones," it's worth your evening. He was so good!

We also had the good fortune to have Dr. Mehmet Oz, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), join us and speak to the group. Special thanks to Jim Lancaster, M.D. and Jeremy Hogg of Main Street Health for making that happen.

We were also proud to announce our partnership with the
National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL) and the launch of the Legacy Leaders Program, pairing rising healthcare executives with veteran health system CEOs who have more than 200 years of leadership experience between them. Developing the next generation of leaders is important to us.

Big news for Grandview Health!

Congratulations to our good friend and IHES Executive Member Philip Patterson, FACHE, on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Grandview Health - Grandview Medical Center - Birmingham, AL.

Philip brings more than 30 years of hospital executive experience across faith-based, academic and community health systems. He joins Grandview from Ascension Providence – Providence Health Network in Waco, Texas, where he served as market president for the past eight years.

A native of Mobile, Philip earned his bachelor's degree from Auburn University, an MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a master's in health administration from Georgia State University.

Congratulations, Philip! We wish you tremendous success in your new role.

2027 will be a milestone year for IHES as we celebrate our 25th year of operations and our 50th IHES meeting in September.
