Tesla is aware that some third-party companies, including Sigenergy, are offering products that claim to enable bidirectional charging with Tesla vehicles. Bidirectional charging enables vehicle-to-home (V2H) functionality, in which the vehicle can provide backup power to the home, as well as vehicle-to-grid (V2G) functionality, in which energy from the vehicle is sent to the grid for additional grid support. V2H and V2G with Tesla vehicles are only permitted when paired with a Tesla Powershare system.

These third-party products have not been authorized or verified by Tesla, and they override safety and control features meant to ensure the health and longevity of Tesla vehicle batteries. Accordingly, use of these unauthorized products will void any existing Tesla vehicle warranty and potentially expose consumers and their property to harm. Companies claiming V2H or V2G functionality are misleading customers, suggesting an unauthorized affiliation with Tesla, and promoting unauthorized vehicle modification.

As our Channel Partner, Tesla wants to ensure that you understand the ramifications of installing such third-party products for use with Tesla vehicles. We encourage you to caution any customer who may be interested in this type of third-party system and direct them to the Tesla Powershare support page and their Tesla vehicle warranty.
