In some cases, it’s a quick fix—but this one was at the end of its life. The system wouldn’t recover, and it made more sense to replace it than keep putting money into it.

That’s always my goal: help you understand what’s going on so you can make the best decision—whether that’s a repair or a replacement.

Before and after from a recent camera system cleanup and upgrade.

This one took a bit of a pivot.

Originally, the plan was to install a new NVR and run network cable using the existing coax as pull strings. Once I got on site, it turned out there was no way to access or reuse the cabling due to how it was run during a previous remodel.

Instead of forcing a solution that wouldn’t work long-term, we adjusted the plan and installed a hybrid system that works with the existing wiring while also allowing for future upgrades.

Cleaned up the setup, got the cameras fully operational, and left them with a system that’s both functional now and flexible moving forward.

Sometimes it’s not about the original plan — it’s about finding the right solution once you’re on site.

Out in the county today setting up a remote camera connection for a property.

A lot of farms, rural properties, and equipment yards don’t have the luxury of being right next to their network or office. Getting cameras connected in those situations takes a little creativity — wireless links, elevation, and the right equipment.

Security doesn’t stop just because a property is a little farther out.

If you have a shop, farm, yard, or remote building that needs cameras but isn’t close to your main network, there are usually ways to make it work.

It’s something I ask businesses all the time.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, so I figured it was time to change that.

I’ve spent the last 32+ years working in telecom, helping businesses keep their communication systems reliable and running smoothly. Technology has changed a lot over the years, but one thing hasn’t — businesses still need dependable service and support they can count on.

Over the next few months I’ll be sharing some insights from the field and reconnecting with more local businesses around the Central Valley.
