For too long, we’ve been told—explicitly and subtly—that our worthiness is measured by what we produce.

This reading invites us to question that story.

Unitarian Universalism calls us into a wider understanding of what it means to be human. Not productivity. Not independence. Not a narrow idea of “ability.” But relationship. Interdependence. The sacredness of every body and mind.

Disabled people are part of the sacred whole of our communities—and yet ableism has too often kept that truth from being fully lived.

This reflection asks more of us.

To notice where we’ve absorbed harmful assumptions.
To repair what has caused harm.
To recognize leadership, wisdom, and presence in forms we may have been taught to overlook.

And to build communities where access is not an afterthought—but part of how we live our values.

May we move beyond worthiness defined by productivity.
May we make space for every body to belong, fully and without condition.
May we practice the kind of care that makes that belonging real.
