On this Saturday afternoon, we find ourselves relaxing in the living room, so I decided to start typing.

Our home is roughly 100 years old and is situated in a historically significant neighborhood. Previous to our home being here, a large portion of this neighborhood was a pecan tree orchard. There are still brick pillar property markers from that orchard located in various places between certain houses and along the alley that now exists behind the homes on our street.

These pillars are an anchor to the past. The orchard is estimated to have been established in 1864, and one of the original residences on that orchard is still standing and boasts beautiful architecture, intricate woodwork, and tiled mantles from the coal fireplaces that are no longer functional, but gorgeous.

The home we live in is no stranger to bumps in the night, which is to be expected in any home of this age, but we also enjoy light switches that turn on by themselves, doorknobs that turn to allow our dog to enter a room she wants to snuggle in, and the occasional disembodied voice.

In our years of experience and research, we have learned that history may have made an imprint on the present. It isn't all scary and bad. Energy is part of our existence in life, as it is believed to be in our death. For that reason, we have come to understand that unkind people in life may well become unkind energy in death. The other side of that is that kind people in life become kind energy in death.

I have always explained my belief structure as this: In our lives, our energy imprints on inanimate objects. It isn't intentional, but there are objects that immediately cause recognition of someone your know. My most frequent example of this phenomenon is cars. When you arrive somewhere, and recognize the car of a friend by color or stickers, or dice on the rearview mirror, you can feel the energy of that friend. Knowing that person is inside somewhere affects your approach to the event. It's an inexplicable tingle that happens somewhere in your "gut" without that friend yet being in your presence. That tingle can be a happy response or a sense of dread, but it was triggered by the object your energy recognized. I can even say that seeing a similar car to one owned by someone I love will sometimes trigger that same "gut" recognition.

We spend a lot of time in our cars. We cry in them, we think and plan our lives while in traffic, we smile like goofballs after falling in love, we sing and dance in them, we wash and care for them, we lean on them when laughing with friends at the park, we hold tight to our steering wheel and mourn losses in them. Our hands spend a lot of time touching that steering wheel, and our energy imprints itself there. The car becomes a spiritual extension of "you".

When you leave that car behind someday, take the stickers off, take the dice down, and move them to a new or different car, your energy will shift to the new car as well. That car, the one that once brought smiles to your friends' faces as much as it gave you a safe place to feel your emotions in solitude was really just a car all along. It was your energy that gave it magic.

Our physical body is very much like that "car" for the whole of our being. It has tattoos or piercings, freckles and birthmarks, scars and stretch marks, and so much more. Some are compact with great mileage, some are big and strong, and some are designed for comfort, but we all have one. It is our vessel for this journey. Our energy is what makes us recognizable, and helps us recognize others within that vessel.

We sometimes feel the energy of those around us as well. Instant friendships, or instant dislike, knowing when someone is happy to see you, or knowing that someone is mad at you is a tingle. That "gut" sense of knowing something isn't right, or that inner joy that bounds up through your chest and flies out of your ears while the happiest of tears spring from your eyes. Our energy speaks quietly to us, and screams crazily to us, every day. Our pets can sense and express their energy better than we can.

I believe that our energies are all connected that way. We are all tuned in to the big ball of everything. Religions would call that big ball of everything, "God". There is definitely a master flow of this energy, both good and bad, running between our little individual energies and the big ball of everything. Meditating, praying, chanting, and manifesting are all part of this flow. I strongly believe that we can send up a flare of urgency when we need help, and the energy flow will try to send out a positive response. I believe that our energy can move mountains if enough of us focus on it at the same time. On that same token, there are energies within our circles that are not light. Those energies are part of the darkness. All of life is a balance You can't have light without the dark, and you can't have good without the bad. They both have to exist like the ebb and flow of the tide.

I can't claim to know what happens when we die. I assume that just like the car that we have left behind, we take the parts of our energy that make us who we are, and leave our physical bodies behind.

I could theorize about why some energies stay around after leaving their physical bodies behind. I could try to guess at why some energies take their toys and happily go home, while others want to stay up all night waiting for you to see them somehow. Some energy is happily content watching us still living in our bodies, while others behave like a toddler demanding attention. How do some energies gain the ability to interact with physical objects, while still others gain the ability to become visibly present to those of us still wearing our meat suits? Although communication can be frustratingly random, or too difficult to apply to questions, it can happen.

Answers to these and other questions are why Echoes of Etowah is here. History is an essential part of our investigation process, and we have had some great successes over the years gaining information and recording answers. Individuals just like you are the root of making it happen.

Have a Happy Saturday all, I'm hoping to post regularly about interesting history and upcoming cases. Stay tuned!

Good afternoon! Although our page is new, we have been investigating and following energy throughout historical buildings and homes for more than 30 years combined. Now that we have settled here in Gadsden, we are really excited about all of the history around us! While we start to establish ourselves with local buildings and areas of interest, We would love to hear from anyone in a older home that have had, or are having, experiences with spirits or energy that you would like to have researched or explained.
