Happy ! ✈️

Today, we celebrate the history and innovation of aviation, and the people, relationships, and communities that continue to move the industry forward.

National Aviation Day is observed on August 19 in honor of Orville Wright’s birthday. Established by President Roosevelt in 1939, this day recognizes the pioneering work of the Wright brothers and the continued contributions of those who build, operate, support, and shape the future of aviation.

For me, it also brings back a project I was incredibly honored to be part of: the groundbreaking for Rise Aviation’s newest hangar, by Plyler Construction, at North Texas Regional Airport.

Through my work in business development, external relations, and community engagement, I had the privilege of coordinating behind the scenes with airport and Texas Department of Transportation Aviation leadership, economic development teams across Grayson County and North Texas, chambers of commerce, city leadership and staff, state and local officials, industry organizations, developers, investors, aviation enthusiasts, and community members.

It was a great reminder of what I love most about this work: bringing people together around a shared purpose. 🫶🏼

Events like this involve countless moving pieces—from stakeholder outreach and logistics to media, elected officials, vendors, branding, and all the details guests may never see. Seeing those pieces come together into one cohesive experience is one of my favorite parts of my job.

And sometimes, it’s the little details that make an event feel special. For this project, we incorporated local flavor with a custom coffee cart and branded cups by Motion Coffee; creating a memorable touch while celebrating the community we were gathered in.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to have played a small part in celebrating this next chapter for Rise Aviation, North Texas Regional Airport, and the continued economic growth of Grayson County and North Texas.

Here’s to building relationships, creating opportunities, and helping bring what’s next to life. And here’s to all the people who make flying safe and possible for everyone!

Not many people get to look back on a decade and point to the moment their hometown changed forever. Former Sherman Mayor David Plyler can.

Over nine years as Sherman's mayor, he helped bring billions in investment to the city, rebuild a highway that had grown dangerous, and turn a place once known as "a great town to retire in" into a federal High-Tech Hub. But talk to him and he keeps giving the credit away, to his city staff, his council, and the neighbors who believed Sherman was worth betting on. His philosophy is simple: economic development is really about opportunity, and opportunity is how you lift people.

From the Archives • Event Coordination & Government Relations | Medal of Honor Host City Museum Ribbon Cutting at North Central Texas College | Lloyd Plyler Construction, LLP

Provided media coordination and government relations support on behalf of Plyler Construction for a high-profile event associated with the Medal of Honor Host City Museum project in Gainesville, Texas.

Coordinated event photography with EM Corporate and managed communication with public officials, including confirming attendance with Senator Brent Hagenbuch.

The event welcomed distinguished state and federal leadership, including Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson, U.S. Congressman Brandon Gill, former State Senator Drew Springer and State Representative David Spiller, and included the recognition of Medal of Honor recipients, underscoring the significance of the project and the honor of supporting an event of this magnitude.

Designed and produced the official event program for the Brown County TX Republican Party Inaugural Reagan Day Luncheon held at Howard Payne University attended by 125 guests. The program was created for distribution to attendees and event leadership, including the office of Senator Phil King, whose Chief of Staff utilized the materials during the luncheon.

The event featured keynote remarks from the Lieutenant Governor of Texas, Dan Patrick and included participation from Brown County Republican Party Chairman Robert Porter, Representative David Spiller, Dr. Cory Hines (President, Howard Payne University), Senator Phil King, Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas, Abraham George, Collin County Republican Party Chairman Byron Henry, and multiple local candidates.

Developed an original, custom-design concept aligned with the tone and formality of the event, overseeing layout, typography, and content hierarchy to ensure clarity and visual impact. The program underwent about 5 rounds of revisions and formal approvals in collaboration with Senator King’s staff, requiring precise attention to detail, responsiveness to feedback, and adherence to event protocol standards. Final deliverables were prepared for professional print production and day-of distribution.
