Can we take a minute to talk about the more than 20,000 people who have recently been removed from Michigan’s S*x Offender Registry following a court ruling?

I’m sorry, but this is something I believe we need to seriously question.

Do I believe people can change? Absolutely. I believe in rehabilitation, second chances, and the ability for people to turn their lives around.

But when someone has been convicted of a sexual offense, particularly offenses involving children, we have to ask ourselves: Where does public safety fit into this conversation?

These individuals were placed on a registry for a reason. Removing someone from the registry does not erase their conviction or mean the underlying conduct never happened. But it does mean that information that was previously available to the public may no longer be available in the same way.

I understand that everyone has constitutional rights. I understand that courts have to follow the Constitution, including restrictions against retroactively applying laws.

But I also believe children and families have rights too including the right to safety.

Government has a responsibility to find a balance between constitutional protections, rehabilitation and protecting the public.

And this brings me to another issue that I find extremely concerning: AI-generated child sexual-abuse material.

We are now living in a world where technology can generate incredibly realistic images with nothing more than a written prompt. Courts are being asked to determine how existing constitutional protections apply to certain AI-generated images involving fictional people, while lawmakers and law enforcement are trying to keep up with technology that didn’t exist when many of our laws were written.

That should concern every parent.

If someone intentionally uses technology to create sexually abusive images depicting children, I believe we need to have a serious national conversation about whether our existing laws are sufficient to protect children from exploitation in this new technological environment.

This isn’t about political parties.

This isn’t about left versus right.

This is about public safety, constitutional rights, technology, accountability and protecting children.

We can believe in rehabilitation without ignoring the potential risks.

We can respect constitutional rights without abandoning public safety.

And we can demand that our laws keep up with technology.

Government should be protecting the public while respecting the Constitution not forcing communities to choose one or the other. Creating these AI generated, images of children should not be protected underneath our first amendment.

🚨 8,200 MICHIGANDERS RECEIVED MISPRINTED AND THIS IS NOT OKAY.

This week, approximately 8,200 Michigan residents received enhanced driver’s licenses or state IDs containing incorrect information because of a printing error by the state’s vendor. The affected cards reportedly contained a generic stock photo and date of birth instead of the cardholder’s information.

Yes, the state says corrected cards are being mailed.

Yes, the state says residents don’t have to take action.

But let’s stop making excuses for government failures.

This is people’s identification.

People depend on these documents to work, travel, conduct business, access services and prove who they are. When more than 8,000 people receive an identification card with someone else’s information or incorrect information, that’s not something we should simply shrug off as “an error.”

It’s another example of why government accountability matters.

And let’s remember who is ultimately responsible for the Michigan Department of State.

Jocelyn Benson is Michigan’s current Secretary of State and she is now running for Governor.

So I have a simple question:

If we can’t trust the state government to get something as fundamental as our identification right, why should we automatically trust the same leadership to run the entire state?

This isn’t about whether you’re a Democrat, Republican or independent.

It’s about competence.

It’s about accountability.

It’s about transparency.

And it’s about expecting our government to do the job Michigan taxpayers are paying it to do.

There are also legitimate questions that voters should be asking about election administration and campaign finance.

For example, Michigan’s own campaign-finance records show campaign-finance complaints involving Jocelyn Benson in 2026. The state’s current records show complaints filed in May and July that were referred with no decision listed, so I’m not going to pretend those complaints prove wrongdoing. They don’t. But they absolutely deserve transparency and answer.

And when we’re talking about election integrity, we should demand evidence and transparency from everyone.

Michigan has conducted extensive post-election audits, including hundreds of audits following the 2024 election, which the state says confirmed the accuracy of the results. Election fraud should never be alleged without evidenc but neither should legitimate questions about election administration be dismissed without examination.

That’s the standard I believe Michigan deserves:

Don’t hide problems.
Don’t make excuses.
Don’t attack people for asking questions.
Show the receipts.
Fix the problems.
And hold government accountable.

Because Michigan doesn’t belong to politicians.

It belongs to the people.

And we deserve a state government that remembers that.

🇺🇸 Enough excuses. Michigan deserves better.

Hard work matters.
Showing up matters.
Taking pride in what you do matters.

And here in Northern Michigan, we know that strong communities are built by people who are willing to roll up their sleeves and get the job done. 💪🇺🇸

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Labor Day with family, friends, and neighbors.

This is absolutely unacceptable and absurd. It DOES depict a real person. That person behind the screen is telling it how to create these images, this is where AI is getting the data to create the image.

This basically means that any and all forms of  explicit content in this category is perfectly okay and most people could now fight and argue it’s AI created content and never be held accountable.

We need to be protecting our children and not putting them in harms way this right here DOES NOT protect our children but makes excuses that it’s okay for people to do this.

The world feels a little heavier today as we hear the heartbreaking news of the passing of an icon we’ve all shared in some way throughout our lives.

There truly will never be another like the Queen of Country, Dolly Parton. Her music transcended generations and spoke to millions of people, including generations within our own family. Her voice, her heart, her philanthropy with her incredible ability to bring people together made her so much more than a musician.

America is a better place because of the inspiring and unifying example Dolly set through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering belief in making others feel welcomed and valued. For over 80 years Dolly has made a impact.

Her spirit will endure for generations to come, just like the timeless music and memories she gave us all.

Wow, this summer really flew by! Students and educators are already returning to the classrooms. Just a reminder to parents that a new law has been enacted, banning cell phones during school hours.

The law allows schools the ability to permit the use of cell phones during lunchtime breaks only; schools will communicate their individual policies with families directly should this be permissible.

Note: While I understand the intent of the law, I did not vote in favor because schools already had the authority to implement these policies, and many Michigan schools had voluntarily done so.

Wishing students, educators, bus drivers, coaches, and staff a fantastic and productive school year ahead! 🌟
