Today I followed the arraignment of Robert “Bob” Wilson, and I want to share some thoughts.

During the hearing, Judge Hunter set a $10,000 bond/surety. While I may not personally agree with that decision, we have to place our trust in the judicial system and hope it does what it is designed to do seek truth and deliver justice.

What stood out during today’s proceedings was the discussion around prior charges. The county prosecutor made it clear there is a history, while Attorney Brown argued those past incidents should not be considered since they don’t directly pertain to the current case. However, when you look at the pattern operating while impaired, improper transportation of ma*****na, interfering with telecommunications, failure to report accident damage, and another recent drinking and driving charge earlier this year, along with possession of metallic knuckles during an incident on southbound I-75 with an alleged BAC of 0.186 it raises serious concerns.

At some point, we have to ask: how does someone continue to hold an elected city office while repeatedly breaking the law?

Holding a public position comes with responsibility. It means representing your city and your county with integrity, accountability, and respect. It’s not just about the title it’s about being an example for the community and contributing positively to it. When actions consistently reflect the opposite, it’s fair for the public to question that leadership.

At the end of the day, this situation now rests in the hands of our justice system. We can only hope it does not fail us that the current charges are taken seriously and that accountability is upheld for the decisions that have been made.

Our community deserves transparency, responsibility, and leadership that reflects the values we stand for.

Robert (Bob) Wilson has now been officially arrested.

This is one of those moments where we all stop and pray that our justice system does not fail us. Situations like this cannot be brushed aside, minimized, or met with a simple slap on the wrist. This is beyond serious, and it demands serious accountability.

Our community, our state, and our country deserve better. We deserve leadership and systems that protect not excuse. We must stand firm with expecting consequences that reflect the severity of these actions.

Across the nation, we’re seeing states take stronger action against crimes involving the exploitation of children and that is the standard we should expect everywhere. Protecting our children is not optional. It is a responsibility we all share.

We deserve Michigan to be better. Now is the time to stay engaged, stay informed, and continue demanding justice.

We appreciate Otsego Resort providing clarity regarding the removal of City Council Member Robert Wilson from their employment at the Resort. Transparency matters, and this is a step in the right direction.

However, there is still significant work to be done for Ward 2. We must continue the effort to hold our elected officials accountable, including petitioning for his removal from his council seat.

This is why it’s so important for our community to show up and be heard. I encourage everyone to attend the City Council meeting this Monday at 7 PM so we can ask the questions our community deserves answers to.

This is also an issue when it comes to individuals in the public eye. Domestic violence should never be, and will never be, an option we resort to. It is unacceptable, and it is deeply alarming that anyone would choose violence as a response.

We must stand firm in providing justice for survivors of domestic violence and remind them that this behavior is never acceptable from anyone. It is not your fault. Far too many survivors carry the weight of blame, believing they are the cause of the abuse, and that is simply not true.

While I appreciate Otsego Resort addressing the situation and making it clear that this behavior does not reflect their values, I believe there are still serious concerns that need to be acknowledged.

This is about more than where the alleged incident took place it’s about accountability, safety, and the message being sent to our community. Otsego Resort is a place where families, children, and visitors come to feel safe and enjoy their time. When serious allegations like this come forward, it raises an important question: why is this individual still employed?

We cannot separate someone’s actions from the responsibility organizations have to uphold trust and protect the people they serve. Accountability matters, and it must be consistent especially when the safety and well-being of families is at stake.

Our community deserves transparency, action, and a clear commitment to doing what is right not just what is convenient.

What is this?

We need to start having serious conversations and more importantly, take real action when it comes to crimes against minors.

It is absolutely disgusting and embarrassing that we continue to see situations like this happen, over and over again, while it feels like not enough is being done to stop it. These are not minor offenses. These are life-altering, deeply harmful crimes that demand stronger, clearer, and more direct consequences.

We cannot keep turning away or brushing these situations aside. Ignoring it only allows it to continue.

Accountability is not optional—it’s necessary. If we truly care about protecting our children and strengthening our communities, then we need to push for better laws, stricter enforcement, and real consequences for those who commit these acts.

Silence protects the wrong people. It’s time we speak up, stand together, and demand change.

After watching the full video of City Councilman Robert “Bob” Wilson, I’m beyond speechless and deeply disturbed. The actions and behavior shown are completely unacceptable and leave me feeling utterly disgusted.

This is beyond unacceptable for any elected official, and as a community, we must hold him accountable. We cannot allow this kind of conduct to be overlooked or excused. Charges against him must be brought forward, and due process must take its course.

I strongly encourage everyone to attend the upcoming City Council meeting on the 23rd at 7 PM to help shine a light on this situation. Our voices matter, and showing up is how we demand accountability and protect the integrity of our community.
