Staying with the young entrepreneur category, our last meeting was with Grant Thevenot and Cole Mosley, owners of Bengal Bites Vending! These guys are a breath of fresh air. New graduates of my alma mater, LSU, they started this business while in college and working other jobs in 2023. Innovative in the vending space, these guys put Smart Coolers on site to have cold items available to customers. They are in apartment complexes, gyms, car dealerships, plants/indistrial sites, and growing to more very soon!

These 2 are sharp guys. They are balancing growth with debt avoidance to stay on top of the balance sheet! Their ideal customer is a site with 75-100 or more people on site daily. Their smart coolers allow the customer to tap to pay and unlock the door and use AI to track what items were purchased. Could your location use this? Let us connect you!

We also talked about all kinds of other things from maybe working together on some projects to potentially forming some sort of accountability group from our LAB participants. Who knows what the future holds?!? Annnnnd, we had so much fun that we forgot to take a picture. Next time!

Austin Wilson, owner of Wintergreen Lawn LLC is a 19-year-old go getter trying to establish and grow his lawncare business. Seeing young people like him really make me smile. I wish I would have had the entrepreneurial mindset he has when I was 19! Austin is providing some of our lawncare needs, so I can make a confident referral here. He is in the middle ground of getting too big to be a solo operator but not quite big enough to justify a full team. His short term goal is to add HOAs, Apartments, and commercial properties to his portfolio. He also installs sod as well as install/service lanscaping. This one was a throwback! Kevin Beyer and I go back nearly 25 years to the good ol’ Outback Steakhouse days on Acadian! While we will leave many of those stories in the past, I will say the network developed during these college restaurant days is a strong one to this day!

Kevin is the co-owner of Intracoastal Consultants, a local Professional Engineering firm for the Gulf Coast Region. They specialize in coastal restoration, flood protection, and water resources projects.

Our conversation went a lot of places from old days to current days. He bottleneck is the same as a lot of other business owners—people. They are finding their sweet spot now that they have been in business a few short years, but they could use 2 quality entry level engineers.

A couple of weeks ago, we were excited to visit with John D. Hodgins, ChFC, FSCP Financial Advisor with Eagle Strategies LLC! John and I go way back 20+ years to the college days. We discussed a wide range of topics from family, to the “good ol’ days”, to financial strategies for small business owners, and fatherhood. John is a great friend who is looking to provide financial strategies to mid-career(middle aged😉) business owners with $1m or more in revenue, namely those from the industrial service world. Last week, we welcomed friend and fellow East Ascension Rotary member, Selina Ann Loupe to the LAB. We have known each other for a long time, but, as is becoming a trend, we never really sat and talked business. Selina has quite a background and resume with many roles and responsibilities in the business world, namely the health insurance industry. She has covered roles healthcare finance all the way through program development operations and negotiations . She retired from that career in 2017 and then joined Team Smith as a realtor in 2020. Just recently, on 1/1/2026, she made the leap to being and independent agent and hasn’t looked back!

We discussed ideas for maximizing capacity, a focus on marketing and social media presence, and new business lines for her. The next line in her focus is relocation services for leaders in our company industrial corridor, so if you have a need for that or know someone who may, give Selina a buzz!

This week’s meeting was a 2-for-1! We welcomed Ascension Parish’s new “Most Ineligible Bachelor”, Jeff Seeger and the gal who made him into that, Robin Caronna. Newly engaged and soon to be married, they own and run Griffin Lawn Care, Blue Jay SnoBalls, and Brave Bella Bead Co.

Our conversation covered quite a lot of topics, including branding, expansion, and, yes collaboration!

For lawn care, Jeff is looking for a go getter to partner with on growth and expanding his lawn service. On the snowball side, he’s looking for more potential locations to put a trailer as well as more opportunities for special events and parties where he brings the snowball truck to you!

For Brave Bella Bead Co., Robin is looking for local boutiques and shops to get her jewelry into. To date her local business has been in Hammond, where she has been living.

And as far as collaboration, I think a barbecue event with Arceneaux's on the River and Blue Jay SnoBalls sounds perfect for this summer!

In the second meeting last week, we welcomed Jerry Binder with The Spirit Stick Apparel company, and he came bearing gifts! We have known each other for quite some time but never sat to talk shop before last week. At his shop, they print hats, shifts, tumblers, etc. An exciting new offering is their Direct to Film printer. This allows shirts to be printed with more colors and artwork. His target going forward is expanding his services in the industrial sector. And of course the new hat design for Arceneaux's on the River!

Jokes aside, early returns are that we are gong to really work well supporting and connecting each other in the right places. If you need any promo items for your business or team, Jerry is that dude!

Last week we kicked it all off with a couple great meetings. First with Brandon Phillips and PJC Design + Build His ideal client is looking to build a custom home. We also talked about his shift in the main services he’s offering with the market and interest rate changes, such as custom pools and renovation work. And while this is the same market that we at Adams Construction Group are targeting, we were able to talk strategy, use of AI in research and marketing, as well as utilizing social media more intentionally. There’s plenty business to go around and I look forward to being a support and partner of Brandon’s in our great parish! Thanks for joining me for the inaugural Arceneaux’s LAB meeting!
