Our friends at Forever Love Rescue at the Kitty Corner Gettysburg have an important message to share!

🐾 LET’S TALK ABOUT OUTDOOR CATS IN ADAMS COUNTY 🐾

We’ve seen some recent concerns about the number of outdoor cats in our communities, and we’d like to offer a little perspective.
Outdoor cat populations don’t simply appear. They grow when cats are abandoned, allowed outside unaltered, or left behind. Just a few unfixed cats can quickly become dozens.

Thankfully, Adams County has some incredible resources and people willing to do something about it.

In 2025 alone, 7,365 cats were spayed/neutered, TNR’d or adopted through just three local organizations.

ONE YEAR. 7,365 CATS. 💜
Imagine what our outdoor cat population might look like without this work happening year after year.

To put that number into perspective, if roughly half were females capable of having 2–3 litters of 4–6 kittens each year, this work potentially prevented the birth of around 45,000 kittens in our communities.

There is still plenty of work to do, and we simply cannot fix them all fast enough. But we are incredibly proud to work alongside our local shelter, veterinary clinics, volunteers, colony caregivers and residents who continue stepping up.
Everyone can do something, especially in their own backyard.

Fix your pets. Help get neighborhood cats fixed. Support the organizations doing the work. And if you don’t know where to start, reach out to one of us!
