Sometimes the little details make the biggest difference in how a home works.
We recently installed gutters and downspouts for a homeowner who loves gardening.
Instead of directing all that rainwater away from the house, we connected the downspouts to rain barrels.
Now the homeowner has a way to collect rainwater for their garden.
Of course, there's more to it than simply connecting a downspout to a barrel.
You also need to think about where excess water will go when the barrel fills up.
The goal is to make the setup useful without creating drainage problems around the home.
It's a good example of why we like understanding how homeowners actually use their property.
