This April 2, 2024 Manchester-by-the-Sea Planning for Reality Series Webinar looked at sea level rise and flooding at Masconomo Park, Singing Beach, and the downtown area. In January 2024, Masconomo Park and Reed Park flooded as did the parking lot behind Town Hall. Over the last several years, erosion at Singing Beach has increased. This webinar provides detailed information on how incremental sea level rise and storm surge are making flooding more frequent, and reviews how we should prepare to meet this new reality. A panel including Harvard GSD Professor Charles Waldheim, HydroPredictions President Dr. Jayne Knott, and Greg Federspiel, Manchester Town Administrator, shows maps and visuals of sea level rise projections. Future design for Masconomo Park to become a floodable park is a discussion point of this webinar and it is closed out with a Q&A session with the panel.
