I’m a special education teacher, and I’ve been in the classroom over ten years.

There is one thing I’ve always lived by:
How would I want my child to feel when they walked into a classroom.

My answer has always been the same.

I want my child to feel loved
I want them to feel safe and cared for.
I want them to know it’s okay to make mistakes, because that’s how learning happens.
I never want them to feel less than just because it takes them a little longer to understand something.

Every child deserves patience.
Every child deserves respect.
Every child deserves a teacher who see their worth beyond academics.
