🚩 The QEM Fire Protection District will be under a burn ban until further notice. Due to the dry ground and wind conditions fires can spread rapidly. 🚩

Dry, windy conditions today will promote dangerous fire behavior in northeast/central Missouri and west-central Illinois, where a Red Flag Warning will exist. Elsewhere, erratic fire behavior is likely. This erratic fire behavior will last into Tuesday. Burning is strongly discouraged outside of professionals!

⚡🌪This is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Illinois and today's focus is on receiving watches and warnings.

❓Do you know what National Weather Service Office issues warnings for your county? Can you pick out your county on a map or do you know the counties that surround yours?

❓Do you have a weather radio? These are just as important as having smoke alarms in your home!

❗ These are important things to know during severe weather to allow yourself plenty of time to seek shelter and where to turn to for reliable information.

As a part of Severe Weather Preparedness Week starting Monday, March 3rd, Missouri and Illinois will be conducting their annual statewide tornado drills! Illinois will conduct theirs this TUESDAY, MARCH 4 at 10 AM. Missouri will conduct theirs this WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5 at 11 AM. During the drill you can expect to hear the outdoor warning sirens go off. You are encouraged to act like this is an actual Tornado Warning and use this time to practice your tornado drill procedures. With the threat of strong to severe thunderstorms across the area Tuesday, it's also an important time to ensure you can seek additional information from broadcast media and NWS sources.
