On behalf of the Grand Isle Volunteer Fire Department, we would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended our Open House on Saturday, September 26th.

We believe the event was a tremendous success. From our grill master, Chris, to pump operator Daniel, and the rest of our dedicated firefighters and volunteers, we were excited to welcome members of our community into our station.

To make the day even more memorable, we were dispatched to a call just as the event was wrapping up. Those who were still present were able to witness something that most people rarely see: how firefighters respond quickly, safely, and with purpose when called into action.

Our scavenger hunt was also a huge success. Children enthusiastically explored the station, searching for the items on their lists like true treasure hunters. Every child who completed the scavenger hunt received a prize, and it was wonderful to see so many smiling faces throughout the day.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to everyone who donated food. Thanks to your generosity, we collected a large amount of food for those in need within our community.

As we conclude, we'd like to remind everyone that we are always looking for individuals interested in volunteering with our department. Keeping with the Fire Prevention Week theme of Safe Charging is a Superpower, here are some tips about charging your devices safely!

Nationwide this week is Fire Safety Week with the theme "Charge Into FireSafety! With the theme dealing with batteries whether e-bikes or scooters, cell phones, controllers, tools and more.

Lets start with an infographic about safely charging e-bike/scooter batteries and proper care. This summer Grand Isle Fire responded to a garage fire where e-bikes chargering were the likely source.

Fire Station Open House today 11-1! Come to see the station, tour the trucks, use a real fire hose, meet your firefighters, have a hamburger or hot dog and enjoy the event!

Make it a day and go to the Champlain Islands Farmers' Market then stop on by or those at the Grand Isle Vermont Recreation Committee soccer event come on by after soccer!

Need another reason to attend tomorrows Open House from 11-1pm? Lets go with Hamburgers and Hot Dogs cooked by Firefighter/Chef Herrick as well as free fire hats! Thats right come for a free lunch and go home with some fire prevention goodies!

Need some reasons to come to the Open House this Saturday from 11-1?

- Look at all the cool equipment on the fire trucks.
- Use a real fire hose to put our a "house fire" which is fun for all ages!
- Use the Jaws of Life (FYI they can move over 50,000lbs)
- Sit in a fire truck and look around. Maybe the adults out there might decide they want to volunteer and become a firefighter.

As we move closer to fall, we’re excited to welcome our community to our Open House on Saturday, September 26 from 11 AM to 1 PM!

This is your chance to see our fire station, check out our entire fleet, and meet the team that serves Grand Isle. Bring the whole family — let your kids sit in the trucks, talk with firefighters, and enjoy complimentary hot dogs while you’re here.

We’re also taking this opportunity to support another local nonprofit and help feed our neighbors in need. Please bring a few non‑perishable food items for our Food Drive — all donations will go directly to the local food shelf.

We want to thank our community for your incredible support over the years. It’s been a busy year for our crew — from boat rescues to structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, and all the other calls that keep us ready 24/7. Our team takes great pride in serving Grand Isle and maintaining a firehouse we’re proud to share with you.

The weather is getting colder and that means people are going to start using their chimneys, if they havent already this month. Our firefighters last night spent time going over how to throw ground ladders and roof ladders used during chimney fire responses as well as went over our chimey fire response protocols and scenarios.

If you havent had your annual chimney cleaning done already, theres still time!.
