Training this week covered a new piece of equipment, the TL-9. This goes with our Hurst eDraulic spreaders (Jaws of Life) to help stabilize the tool when lifting. The jaws of life can lift up many tons of weight so it’s important to ensure it is stabilized and won’t title. This training also covered cribbing to keep up with the saying lift an inch, crib an inch.

Grand Isle Fire is excited to be at this event at Allenholm Farm tomorrow and hope to see you there!

This spring Chief White sat down with the The Wall Street Journal to discuss the role and need of the volunteer firefighter in the US. In the US the majority of firefighters are non-career often having a full time employment outside of the fire service. The need for more firefighters both career, on call and volunteer levels is more important than ever as numbers are down however call responses are increasing.

Whether in Grand Isle or elsewhere take the time to support your local fire department. Whether attending their open house or fundraiser, saying Hi as they are out at community events or maybe even considering volunteering. Fire departments have many roles from interior, exterior, auxiliary support and other roles and train to your comfort level. Reach out to your local fire department today!

Volunteer firemen is a tradition as old as the nation, but fewer young people are signing up to do the job.

Training this week focused on marine operations. With driving the boat, docking, practice backing up the trailer with the new utility truck and learning knots.

Ended training with getting toned out for a motor vehicle crash, all occupants including an 11 week old kitten were okay.

Well folks, looks like the weather cant make up its mind today. Might be in the 90s but now looking like this evening (7pm and later) we got a good size storm coming our way.

What to Expect (potentially)?
- Wind Guests up to 70mph
- Rain fall up to 1 1/2 inches.
- Large Hail
- Lightning
- Lets not forget a "strong tornado cannot be ruled out"

If you do come across a down tree across a road, call 911 to report. If you come across down utility lines call 911 to report as well. Do not get out of your car to try to move the down line or drive over (best not to guess if its a power line or telephone line).
