As Summer rolls in, I’d like to finally and formally announce the newest member to our Digital Concrete team, Olivia Delmissier!

WE ARE GROWING! Olivia has been with us since February and has been doing amazing. Hailing from GVSU, majoring in Advertising and Public Relations, Olivia’s passion for digital marketing and social media made her a stand out when we were looking for much needed help. Was tasked with the amazing opportunity to redesign the website for a local business directory that focuses on black business called Grand Rapids Area Black Businesses (). The goal was update the look and feel of the site while also enhancing the capabilities of the search and filter functionality.
It was truly a pleasure redesigning this website.

Not All Projects Make It To The Finish Line. And it SUCKS! LOL

Especially when you fall in love with the process and progress of the project. There are various reasons why branding projects aren't complete. Reasons may include; the business closes, idea abandoned, client disappearance, non payment, or simply project direction was not approved.

But whatever the reason I learn something new and apply to the next project.

This project was for a Trucking company in the southern region of the US call Washington Freight

Before the project was completely finished they changed the name of the business. Thus leaving this identity with no home.

Venturing into being an entrepreneur can take you into whirlwind. At times I have found myself lost in a world of information. Then it becomes too much to take in trying to figure out what to learn, how to learn it, and who to learn it from.

Goal #8 on my list of resolutions:
Be a positive, trusted source of information for Branding and Websites. My hope is that you are able to take my advice and succeed!

Two tips I’ll give you:

1 - Take time to learn, read, re-read, and learn some more cause nothing is right if it is not right for you.

2 - If you dont fully understand something, keep asking questions until you understand it enough to keep going or you realize its not for you.

The entrepreneurs journey is not an easy one, but you’ll find thats its more than worth it the further you push yourself to continue.

Let’s go big this year!

To Rebrand or To Refresh, That is the question!

Often time when one is thinking to rebrand they really mean refresh, as in they just want to be able update their logo without changing the direction of the business or brand itself.
When rebranding we are focusing on changing the brand to pivot in a new direction to target new ideal customers and/or change the perception of the brand in the minds of the consumer.

To make it simple, Your brand is a house -
Changing the siding, roofing, paint to make it newer, fresher, modern = Refresh

Tearing down the one story house to build a bigger, bolder, 2 story house = Rebrand

Self doubt sucks.. We can all agree on that right?

Imposter syndrome, the devil on the shoulder, whatever you call it comes and goes, and when it comes it likes to linger.

For me it comes when I receive accolades, in the middle of a project, and when I get stuck on a design direction I tend to second guess myself. (I hate when it happens every time.)

To get around it I do my best to not go down the downward spiral or rabbit hole. I step away to take a deep breath, then engage in an activity totally unrelated to what I’m working on. I take what ever time i need to get back to square one and go back on the attack.

I have goals i want to accomplish this year and overcoming self doubt is part of the process. I remain vigilant, I remain dedicated. The race to success is a marathon not a sprint and speed bumps happen.
