GE Aviation Systems Early Identification Program (Interns/Co-ops)

GE Aviation Systems Early Identification Program (Interns/Co-ops) GE's Aviation Systems business has 19 locations through the United States. This new corporation was called the General Electric Company.

General Electric was first established as the Edison General Electric Company in 1890 when Thomas Edison brought his various businesses together under one corporation. Shortly after this time, a competitor in electrical innovation emerged as the Thomson-Houston Company. In 1892, the companies combined, as it became impossible for either company to produce complete electrical installations by relyi

ng solely on their own patents and technologies. Since this initial merging, the General Electric Company has not only continued to offer several of Edison’s early business offerings in lighting, transportation, industrial products, power transmission, and medical equipment, but they have also diversified into a number of other products, such as, the avionics industry in which I was placed. General Electric acquired Smiths Aerospace in May of 2007 and since then General Electric has been supplying the aviation industry with various aviation computing systems, controls and interface systems, crew interface systems, navigation and guidance systems, vehicle health and data management systems, as well as mission systems. The aviation computing systems integrate the aircraft’s computers, networks, and interfacing electronics providing major cost benefits to aircraft manufacturers. Their controls and interface systems, as well as, crew interface systems provide crews with displays using the latest design techniques. Their navigation and guidance systems are helping to reduce fuel burn and carbon dioxide emissions and lowered community noise to customers around the world. The vehicle health and data management systems support the full mission cycle with end-to-end maintenance, safety and training information systems. GE Aviation Systems’ mission systems are used to control and process all mission-related functionality of military aircraft. All of these exciting products are ways GE is pushing the boundaries of aviation with new solutions making aviation as a whole more efficient and environmentally responsible.
