The transition home after school can be hard—even when the school day went well.

Some children spend hours managing noise, transitions, social expectations, communication demands, and changes in routine. Once they reach a safe and familiar place, all of that effort may finally come out.

After-school tears, withdrawal, irritability, or big behavior are not always signs of defiance. They may mean, “I’ve worked hard all day, and I need help settling.”

Try offering fewer questions, lower demands, a snack or drink, movement, sensory input, quiet time, and connection without pressure. Once your child is regulated, there will be more space to talk about their day and move into the evening routine.

If afternoons regularly feel overwhelming, MindRight can help your family better understand what your child may be communicating and develop practical strategies that fit your home.

You don’t have to wait until things feel unmanageable to ask for support. 🤝

To the parents and caregivers sending a child with significant support needs back to school this week: We see you.

Handing your child’s care, communication, safety, and support back to a school team can bring so many emotions at once. You may feel hopeful, relieved, excited, worried, protective, or completely overwhelmed. You may trust the people supporting your child and still find it incredibly hard to let go.

All of those feelings can exist together.

You have spent weeks preparing, planning, communicating, labeling supplies, reviewing routines, and thinking through needs others may never have to consider. This week, you are being asked to take a deep breath and trust that the people receiving your child will begin learning all the things you already know by heart.

We hope this week brings kind teachers, patient transitions, open communication, and moments that help both you and your child feel safe and confident.

And if the transition is difficult—or you need help working through new routines, behaviors, safety concerns, communication needs, or caregiver emotions—you do not have to navigate it alone. MindRight is here to listen, problem-solve, collaborate, and support your family along the way.

We are cheering for your children, their school teams, and especially for you this week. Here’s to a safe and supported school year. 🌼

You don’t have to wait to begin getting support. 💙

MindRight Behavior & Consulting is now enrolling children and families for daytime, center-based services in De Pere between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Our individualized services may be a great fit for:

• Homeschool families looking to incorporate social, behavioral, communication, safety, or daily living skill development into their child’s day
• Parents and caregivers who want hands-on coaching and practical strategies they can use at home
• Families navigating a new autism diagnosis and feeling unsure about where to begin
• Children waiting for ABA therapy or other long-term services who could benefit from meaningful support in the meantime
• Families looking for flexible, individualized services outside of a traditional full-day program

Families may choose child-only services, parent-and-child services, or a combination based on their goals and needs.

Our highly trained team provides practical, compassionate support focused on skills that make a meaningful difference in everyday life. We can help families identify priorities, build a plan, strengthen caregiver confidence, and begin working toward important goals—even while they are waiting for another service to become available.

Services may include:

• Caregiver and Parent Support
• Safety Planning and Prevention
• Social and Emotional Skill Development
• Daily Living and Independence Skills
• Individualized Behavioral Consultation and Support

CLTS funding and private-pay options are available.

If your family feels stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure what the next step should be, reach out. We would be happy to learn more about your child and help determine whether MindRight is a good fit.

☀️ DAYTIME OPENINGS ARE AVAILABLE FOR FALL 2026!

MindRight Behavior & Consulting is now accepting referrals for individualized, center-based behavioral services during daytime hours at our De Pere center.

💜 CLTS funding and private-pay services are accepted. Families do not need to be enrolled in CLTS to contact MindRight or explore programming.

Our Fall 2026 programming includes:

🌱 Little Explorers
Caregiver-participation programming for young children approximately 18 months–3 years, focused on early communication, play, routines, transitions, regulation, independence, and caregiver coaching.

🌿 Early Explorers
Play-based behavioral programming for children approximately 3–5 years, focused on communication, social development, emotional regulation, routines, independence, peer interaction, and successful participation across everyday environments.

💬 MindRight Social Connections
Individualized support for children and adolescents building communication, friendship skills, emotional regulation, flexible thinking, self-advocacy, problem-solving, and confidence navigating social situations.

🌎 MindRight Future Connections
Career exploration, workplace readiness, executive functioning, community involvement, and independent living preparation for adolescents and young adults.

🏡 Everyday Skills
Meaningful, real-life instruction that helps children and adolescents build independence with daily routines, personal care, meal preparation, organization, household responsibilities, community participation, and other functional skills.

🤝 Caregiver & Family Support
Individualized education and hands-on coaching that helps caregivers understand behavior, build predictable routines, support communication and regulation, respond consistently to challenging situations, and promote their child’s independence across everyday life.

🛡️ Safety Planning & Prevention
Proactive behavioral support for participants with safety concerns such as elopement, aggression, self-injury, property destruction, limited danger awareness, or unsafe community behavior. Programming may include individualized safety planning, prevention strategies, replacement-skill development, caregiver education, and ongoing monitoring.

💜 Health & Wellness
Support for developing sustainable routines involving physical activity, nutrition, sleep, emotional wellness, stress management, self-care, healthy decision-making, and meaningful community participation.

Services are individualized and goal-directed—not childcare, daycare, or general center attendance. Our team works collaboratively with each family—and with county partners when CLTS funding is being used—to identify the services, goals, schedule, and supports that best align with the participant’s needs.

Daytime opportunities may be especially helpful for:

• Young children and their caregivers
• Homeschooled or virtually enrolled students
• Participants with shortened or modified school schedules
• Adolescents and young adults preparing for greater independence
• Families seeking structured caregiver coaching or proactive safety support

Submitting an inquiry or referral begins the placement process. MindRight will review participant needs, program fit, funding or authorization, requested availability, staffing, and capacity before recommending programming and scheduling options.
