Hispanic Heritage Month is always a meaningful time to reflect on where I come from and the people who have shaped who I am. 🇨🇴 I’m proud to be Colombian-American. Proud of the sacrifices my parents made, the values they passed down, and the culture and community that continue to ground me.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that our heritage lives in so many places. In our families and stories. In our language, food, music, and traditions. In the way we show up for one another. Now, as a parent, there’s something especially meaningful about getting to pass that orgullo on to the next generation.
My heritage has also shaped so much of the work I’ve chosen to do. It’s part of what inspired me to start creating something that allows me to give back to my community while supporting students, families, professionals, and organizations from many different backgrounds.
This month (and every month) is a reminder to celebrate where we come from, honor those who came before us, and continue creating opportunities for those coming after us.
