WHO DECIDED GROWTH ALWAYS MEANS HIRING MORE PEOPLE?

It’s one of those “rules” we rarely stop to question.

More clients = more clinicians.
More clinicians = more revenue.
More revenue = a more successful practice.

Right?

Not necessarily.

I’ve seen organizations grow in size while becoming less profitable, less efficient, and significantly more difficult to manage.

Sometimes the answer isn’t another clinician.

Sometimes it’s looking at:

* Are the clinicians you already have actually at capacity?
* Are schedules being utilized effectively?
* Are cancellations and no-shows quietly eating into revenue?
* Are administrative processes creating unnecessary work?
* Do you have the leadership structure to support another 5, 10, or 20 employees?
* And most importantly—does the math actually support the hire?

Growth shouldn’t simply mean more.

Sometimes growth means becoming better at what you’re already doing.

Before asking, “Who should we hire next?”

Maybe the better question is:

“What problem are we actually trying to solve?”

That’s the kind of “rule” worth questioning.

Question the assumption. Choose intentionally.

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself…

Who decided this was a rule?

Not the laws we have to follow.
Not ethics.
Not kindness.

I’m talking about the unspoken rules we inherit without ever questioning them.

• You have to stay in a job you’re miserable in because it pays well.
• You have to answer emails after hours.
• You have to put everyone else’s needs before your own.
• You have to climb the ladder the way everyone else did.
• You have to keep doing something simply because you’ve already invested years into it.

But…who decided those were the rules?

Somewhere along the way, many of us stop making intentional decisions and start living by expectations we never consciously chose.

At Stark Advisory Group, I spend a lot of time helping people and organizations step back, challenge assumptions, and make decisions based on what actually works—not just on “the way it’s always been done.”

This week, I’m starting a new conversation.

Each week, I’ll share one “rule” that deserves a second look.

Because sometimes the biggest breakthrough starts with a simple question:

What if that was never really a rule at all?

I’d love to hear from you…

What’s one “rule” you’ve always questioned—or one you finally gave yourself permission to break?

Sometimes the hardest part of moving forward isn't knowing what to do—it's knowing where to start.

Whether you're leading a team, navigating conflict, growing a practice, or facing a difficult life transition, you don't have to do it alone.

At Stark Advisory Group, I believe the best solutions are built on three things:

• Clarity – understanding where you are and where you want to go.
• Strategy – creating a thoughtful plan that works for your unique situation.
• Results – achieving meaningful, lasting change.

Progress doesn't happen by chance. It happens through intentional action.

If you've been waiting for the "right time" to ask for support, consider this your sign to take the first step.
