We did not get the record snowfall that was expected last week, but Detroit has still turned into a winter wonderland. Recently a new customer made an order for some firewood. When I was dropping off her order, I noticed that she had a firewood rack in her garage mostly full with big birch and cherry rounds, and we started discussing it. A friend had given her the logs when they were cutting down a tree, and since she did not have a means to split the logs, the wood sat in her garage taking up space for over a year. In a year's time, the wood was appropriately seasoned (dried) so we forged a plan for me to split it into manageable pieces, which she could then burn in her fireplace. I was happy to help and she was happy to have usable firewood! Here are some before and after shots of this beautiful, dry birch and cherry, now keeping the customer warm and cozy instead of taking up valuable garage space.

A typical firewood log is 16" long, which will fit in most fire pits and fireplaces. But if you have a chiminea, wood stove, or a smaller fire pit, you may want smaller logs that fit entirely inside your unit. We have smaller firewood of 10" - 12" for that very purpose! You can request smaller firewood in the special delivery instructions on our order form, or send us a message when you are ready to make your order. We will make sure you get what you need!

Starting a fire doesn't have to be a chore. On a lazy, snowy Sunday, we were able to throw in a clean-burning soy fire starter, build a small framework around it, light, and relax! Local delivery of starters, kindling, and bundles of no-waste (no plastic, no staples), seasoned hardwood is available to keep your cozy as you acclimate to the season's first snowfall. ❄️

Detroit Artisanal Firewood sells locally-sourced firewood bundles conveniently delivered to your porch in and around Grosse Pointe. Each bundle is approximately 1 cubic foot, which is about 33% larger than the bundles at grocery and convenience stores. We sell only quality hardwoods, including ash, oak, maple, and elm, seasoned without the use of any chemicals. Our seasoned firewood can be safely burned in an indoor fireplace or outdoor fire pit.

Bundles cost $9 each or 3 for $25, with free delivery within the Grosse Pointes, Harper Woods, and East English Village with orders of $25 or more. We also sell kindling for $10 per bag and wax firestarters for $1 each to help get your fire started quickly.

When you are ready, please fill out the order form, and you will be emailed order details and payment instructions. After receiving payment, your order will be dropped off within two days. Deliveries are often made on the same day as the order. Please send us a message with any questions, special requests, or to arrange delivery outside of our normal delivery area.
