A few moments from Valerie and Bill’s Brooklyn Arts wedding yesterday in downtown Wilmington. Despite heavy rains and a tornado watch as we photographed details and everyone got ready, the skies cleared and they had the perfect evening celebrating with family and friends.

Ava and Andres flew in from California the morning of their session to celebrate their engagement in Ava’s home state of North Carolina. As two ocean lovers, they knew they wanted the water to be part of their story - and when Ava mentioned they wanted to actually get in the ocean for their session, I knew we were going to have fun!
We spent the evening tucked away in the beautiful dunes, finding a little shelter from the wind, before heading down to the water to soak up the most incredible cotton candy skies. And, of course, these two couldn’t resist making a run for the ocean.
Ava and Andres were the sweetest couple and they reminded me why I love photographing people who are willing to get a little sandy, a little windswept, and completely caught up in the moment.

If I could order up the weather for every session, I’d choose an evening exactly like this one.
Warm, breezy, golden, and just a little bit magical. It was the kind of evening on the beach that makes you want to slow down and soak it all in.
Samantha and Logan are getting ready to welcome another little one, and this time, they’ll have the sweetest big brother by their side. Watching him love on his mama and pat her back while she held him made this session so special.
There’s so much anticipation and joy when your family is right on the edge of becoming four. I’m so honored to photograph the love this family has.
Topsail Island, you really showed off for this one!

It feels like a lifetime ago that I taught alongside Shelby’s parents in South Korea. Back then, they were just learning how to navigate parenthood and I was just meeting the man who would become my future husband.
Fast forward through the years, Shelby and her family call Ecuador home, living among the incredible Andes Mountains and lush jungles. This summer brought them back to the U.S. to reconnect with family and friends - and somehow, we found a way to make this senior session happen with ONE day on the calendar.

Of course, it rained. ALL.DAY.

I kept praying those skies would clear so Shelby could have the beach senior session she had dreamed of, and God provided. Just when we needed it, the clouds parted, the rain stopped, and we got the most beautiful evening on Topsail Island.
And Shelby? She absolutely ROCKEF it!
What a gift it is to watch a family’s story unfold across years, countries, and seasons of life, and then get to freeze a little piece of it in photographs.

Here’s to an incredible senior year, Shelby! And here’s to a world big enough for adventures, but small enough to keep lifelong friends all around the globe.

After four boys, this little girl came along and stole the show. 🎀
Every summer, this sweet family returns to vacation on picturesque Topsail Island, and I’m so lucky to be the one who gets to freeze a little piece of their summer story each year. From sandy toes and salty air to newest smiles and growing personalities, these annual sessions are more than family photos, they’re a way to remember exactly what this season of life felt like.
