We can't wait to see you at the ADSA Meeting this week!!

There’s value in getting the right people in the same room — and ADSA 2026 is bringing together conversations that help move the dairy industry forward. 🎤

From nutritional models to real-world application on dairies, the future of dairy nutrition depends on turning data into decisions that actually work in the barn. Steve Martin will be part of the consultant panel during the “From Data to the Barn—The Application of Nutritional Models” symposium at the upcoming American Dairy Science Association Annual Meeting in Milwaukee. 🐄📊

Events like ADSA bring together researchers, consultants, and industry leaders all focused on one thing: helping dairies move forward through better science, better communication, and practical application.

If you’ll be at ADSA this year, be sure to connect with the DNMC team! 👏

Behind every successful dairy operation is someone who taught the value of hard work, integrity, and showing up every day—even when no one is watching.

This Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the dads, grandpas, mentors, and role models who helped shape the next generation of agriculture. Whether they were teaching lessons in the tractor seat, the shop, the barn, or around the kitchen table, their influence reaches far beyond the farm.

At DNMC, we’re grateful for the fathers who continue to invest in their families, their communities, and the future of dairy.

What’s one lesson your dad—or a father figure—taught you that still sticks with you today? ⬇️

The next generation is already watching. 🐄

From the feed fence to the feed bunk, the future of dairy is shaped by the decisions made every day by producers, nutritionists, feeders, managers, and dairy teams.

This June Dairy Month, we're celebrating the people behind the cows—the ones balancing rations, monitoring performance, solving challenges, and continuously looking for ways to improve.

The best dairy operations aren't built on guesswork. They're built on data, observation, teamwork, and structured nutrition.

💬 What's the biggest challenge—or opportunity—facing dairies in your area right now?

We'll see you tomorrow in Montezuma, Kansas. 🚜🥛

The Beef x Dairy Innovation Summit is a unique opportunity to bring together producers, nutritionists, researchers, and industry leaders for a full day of learning, discussion, and innovation.

As a proud partner of the event, DNMC is excited to be part of the conversations focused on practical solutions, performance, and opportunities across both the dairy and beef industries.

If you'll be attending, be sure to connect with Justine and Justin throughout the day. We'd love to visit about the challenges and opportunities you're seeing on your operation.

What topic are you most looking forward to discussing at this year's Summit?

Data is only valuable if it helps producers make better decisions.

Whether it's forage quality, feed costs, milk production, labor efficiency, or herd health, the dairy industry continues to generate more information than ever before. The challenge isn't collecting data—it's knowing how to use it.

This article highlights an important topic for today's dairy operations and serves as a reminder that successful management often comes down to turning information into action.

What stands out most to you from this article? We'd love to hear your perspective in the comments. ⬇️

Artificial intelligence is becoming a powerful tool for organizing and analyzing dairy data, but nutritionists say it still is not ready to take over one of the most important decisions on the farm.

“You learn quickly that every dairy is different — and the best solutions have to work both nutritionally and practically.” 🐄

On this week’s episode of Roadside Ruminations: a conversation with DNMC’s newest team member, Dr. Laura Niehues, about transition cow nutrition, amino acid balancing, ration formulation, and the path that brought her to DNMC.

Laura earned her PhD in Dairy Cow Nutrition from the University of Illinois, where her research focused on amino acid metabolism during the transition period. Since then, she’s worked extensively in technical support and nutrition consulting, helping bridge the gap between research, feed management, and real-world dairy application.

If you enjoy conversations focused on practical dairy nutrition strategies and the challenges producers are navigating today, this episode is worth the listen.

DNMC is excited to welcome Dr. Laura Niehues to the team as Director of Technical Services.

Laura’s background spans transition cow nutrition, amino acid balancing, feed management, and technical support — all centered around helping dairies make practical nutrition decisions that support performance in the barn, not just on paper.

With experience ranging from research to commercial nutrition support and on-farm consulting, she brings a valuable perspective to the producers and industry partners DNMC works alongside every day.

When she’s not working with dairies, you’ll probably find her at the barn riding horses, listening to music in the background, fueled by coffee, and chasing after her daughter Nora. ☕🐴

We’re excited to have her on the team and look forward to the knowledge, perspective, and collaboration she brings to DNMC.

What happens when strong technical expertise meets real-world dairy problem-solving? 🐄, listening to music in the background, fueled by coffee, and chasing after her daughter, Nora. ☕🐴

Today, we remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it’s a reminder of the sacrifice, courage, and dedication shown by so many who served to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

From all of us at DNMC Milk, we are grateful for those who made the ultimate sacrifice and for the families who carry their legacy forward.

Sorghum silage — a great alternative for dry conditions. 🌾

Across parts of the High Plains, dry conditions and missed rains are creating some difficult planting decisions. The calendar keeps moving, but moisture in many areas still hasn’t shown up.

Corn seed may already be bought, but for some operations, sorghum silage may be a smart shift when conditions are tough.

Not all sorghums fit every goal:
▪️ High grain or male sterile?
▪️ Yield vs. fiber digestibility?
▪️ Harvest and processing capabilities?

And if high grain sorghum is part of the plan, now is the time to talk with your custom chopper about berry processing rolls before fall harvest arrives.

The best forage strategies are built by adapting early — not waiting for perfect conditions. 💡

What are you seeing in your area right now: staying with corn, shifting acres, or still waiting on rain?
