I don’t know if I can do this until 65… maybe not even 55.
Healthcare feels different now. Instead of patient care providers are seeing more admin, portal messages, pressure and metrics. Less of what made you fall in love with medicine in the first place.
The hardest part isn’t just the workload, it’s the fear that your entire financial plan depends on you keeping this exact pace and pay. It makes you start to wonder what happens if one morning you’re simply done. Could you cut back to 0.8 FTE? Could you walk away from call? Could you trade some income for a calmer role and still be okay?
This isn’t about extravagance. It’s about having options to give you peace of mind. Knowing your walk‑away number and your cut‑back number. Seeing, in plain English, that you can protect your health without blowing up your future.
If you're starting to feel burned out and wondering if you really have to keep this pace until 65, let's talk. You may have more flexibility than you think.
