Competitions:

One of the best ways to push yourself when it comes to shooting is to go shoot some competitions.

It can seem very intimidating to go out and shoot in front of a big group of people you don’t know. However, from my experience, the competition community is one of the least judgmental out there.

People of all skill levels come out to competitions just to have fun shooting.

With that said, nothing beats the perceived pressure of shooting against a timer in front of people you don’t know. It’s a great form of “stress” shooting.

It’s also helpful to see where you stack up against others so you can push yourself to be better. I consider myself a pretty decent shooter, but when I go to competitions, there are shooters there who make it look like it’s my first day shooting.

Let’s talk about the 2nd Amendment.

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

It is a right provided to us by both God and the Founding Fathers of our country.

It is the only amendment to the Constitution that says “shall not be infringed.”

It is the right given to us to protect ourselves from tyrannical governments, foreign governments, and anyone who wishes to do us harm.

It is the right that allows us to enjoy our hobby.

It is the right that gives me the ability to help train each and every one of you achieve a sense of security when walking down a dark alleyway or through a crowded mall with your family.

Here at Oni Consulting LLC, we have a strong belief in the Constitution, especially as it pertains to the 2nd Amendment.

P.S. To my personal ATF agent, the green item on the back of the gun is NOT a switch. This firearm is solely semi-automatic requiring a trigger pull per shot fired.

Target Transitions

They say that the eyes drive the gun, and I agree.

What this means is that when you're transitioning between one target and the next, your eyes move to the next target before your gun does—even if it's just for a split second.

Our bodies are designed to do most things in front of our face where we can see them. If you're transitioning from target to target while looking down your aiming system, you're putting your brain through an entire decision-making process as it approaches the next target.

As you sweep to the next target, your brain needs to recognize that you're getting close to where you want to aim. It then needs to decide to stop at the desired point of aim, and finally act by pulling the trigger.
By this time, you are typically too late, and your shots will end up on the edges of the target.

If you instead look at the target and bring the aiming system into your vision, you can stop almost immediately because your brain has already decided where the gun needs to be before it gets there. At that point, you're simply relying on hand-eye coordination.

For example, imagine playing catch with a friend. It’s easy to catch the ball when you know it's going to be thrown. However, if someone throws something at you while you're not paying attention, it takes longer to perceive the object, react, and catch it.

Movement:

Static shooting is great and all when we want to test or train raw marksmanship and speed.

With that being said, in a gunfight scenario, our best chance for success is to "get off the X"(overused training terminology) and find usable cover ASAP.

Here, you can see in this simple drill I set up it hits key training points that could come into play in any self-defense scenario.

1. A speedy draw and instantly engaging a target that's directly in front of you upon stimulus.

2. Realizing you need to move to cover and doing so while returning accurate and accountable fire on target.

3. If you're still out in the open, rapidly pushing to cover and reengaging from cover.

If you want help training to win gunfights, please reach out to Oni Consulting LLC .

As always, thank you all again for your support.

Good morning everyone!

I took this video yesterday while doing some training and noticed that there was some training value that could be learned from it.

1. Shot timers. Here at Oni Training LLC, we unequivocally endorse the use of shot timers. They are one of the best ways to track your progression. The goal for everyone, including myself, is to continually get better. One of the easiest ways to do that is by using a shot timer and continually pushing the boundaries of what you are capable of, in this case, speed and accountability of shots.

2. Finish your drills. As you can see in the course of fire, I encountered an emergency reload that I wasn't planning for. It would have been easy to stop the drill and act like I planned for it to end that way. But one of the best ways to train for something you weren't planning for is to work your way through it. There would have been a lot of lost training value, including the reload under stress (albeit minimal), and if you watch closely, my safety unintentionally became engaged during the reload. All problems that, without being staged, I had to learn by working my way through them.

If you are looking to receive training from me, please reach out on Facebook at Oni Consulting LLC.

What’s up everyone!

My name is Dominic. Thank you all so much for supporting me and liking my business page. Many of you already know me, but for those who don’t, allow me to introduce myself.

I’ve been a certified law enforcement officer in Pennsylvania since 2018, and since 2021 I have served as my agency’s fi****ms instructor. I have also been a member of my county’s regional SWAT team since 2021.

During this time, I have attended and administered a wide variety of training, including rifle and pistol shooting, pistol-mounted red dots, CQB, low-light/no-light shooting (including NVG use), concealed carry, fighting in and around vehicles, active shooter response, and more.

Fi****ms training has always been a passion of mine, and it has long been a goal to build a business centered around it. That goal is now becoming a reality.

As of this month, I’m proud to announce the launch of Oni Consulting LLC.

My mission is simple: help people become as safe, confident, and proficient with their fi****ms as possible.

Effective immediately, I am accepting clients for private 1-on-1 fi****ms training. Whether you’ve never handled a firearm before or you’ve been shooting for years and want to improve specific skills, I’m here to help.

As the business continues to grow, I plan to expand offerings to include larger group classes and structured courses so more people can train together in a professional, safe, and effective environment.

I will also be periodically posting educational content on this page, including training tips, common mistakes, mindset, and other information to help you improve your skills.

Feel free to reach out through this page to discuss how I can help you reach your goals.

Thank you again for the support. If you’d be willing to share this page with friends who may be interested, I would greatly appreciate it.
