Swipe through to see some of the beautiful blues, greens, aquas, and every shade in between that came through our last Kick Glass drop-off!!

We mostly have to crush everything together, so getting to separate the colors and see each one transformed individually was ridiculously fun. And can we talk about those BLUES?! (Chefs kiss)

The best part? This colorful sand is being put to good use, proving once again that something headed for the landfill can become something completely different with a little imagination.

Which one is your favorite?!

You tell me yours, I’ll tell you mine!

Glass was crushing. Bubbles were flying. Volunteers were EVERYWHERE. Just another perfectly normal Kick Glass night.

Seriously, Hattiesburg… y’all showed up!

We had an incredible number of volunteers jumping in to sort, prep, break down boxes, haul, crush, laugh, learn, and somehow make all that work feel like a really good time.

A HUGE shoutout to the Boy Scouts who came ready to work and to our friends from DuBard School who were so engaged, curious, and excited to be part of the process. THIS is the stuff we love.

Getting people involved, letting them get their hands dirty, and showing the next generation that taking care of your community can actually be FUN.

Big thanks to Bernadette Silverstein + Waste Pro USA. 🫧💚 Bernadette showed up with her bubbly personality AND actual bubbles for the kids 😂, while Waste Pro once again generously picked up the check for our volunteers. We are so thankful for partners who don’t just support the mission from afar, they come out and become part of it.

Once again, we couldn’t crush it all before the night was over, so a whole lot of it had to make the trip back to The Shack for round two. At this point, having “too much glass” might be our favorite problem to have.

Every bottle saved. Every kid learning. Every volunteer staying an extra hour. Every business showing up. Every new person asking, “Okay, what exactly are y’all doing over here?”

This is how a grassroots movement grows.

Thank you for continuing to show up, Hattiesburg. Keep saving it. Keep bringing it. Keep telling your people.

We’ll keep crushing it. Always thankful to Southern Prohibition for hosting us every month.

TONIGHT’S KICK GLASS MISSION: BRING US THE RAINBOW

We got a VERY cool request from the Mississippi Sound Estuary Program and we need Hattiesburg’s help!

Their upcoming Homeschool Learning Lab is all about estuaries and salt marsh restoration and one of the activities will have kids creating art with recycled glass sand while learning about the role these habitats play in our environment.

Sooooo… guess who has a crusher and can make sand? 😏

WE’RE MAKING IT FOR THEM!

Tonight we’re on the hunt for:

💙 BLUE
❤️ RED
💚 GREEN
🤎 AMBER/BROWN
🩵 AQUA
💜 PURPLE
🧡 ORANGE
Whatever weird and wonderful colored glass you can find!

We’ll separate the bottles by color, crush them individually, and sift them down into different shades of glass sand for the kids to use.

We’ve already got a pretty solid green collection, and thanks to the sheer amount of Topo Chico y’all consume 😂, we are DEFINITELY covered on clear.

Now we want to see what other colors Hattiesburg can find!

And we really love the full-circle moment here: glass saved from the landfill → crushed into sand → used to teach the next generation about estuaries, salt marshes, restoration, and why taking care of our environment matters!!

Check the cabinets. Raid the recycling pile. Ask your favorite restaurant or bar. Dig out that funky blue bottle you’ve been keeping because it was “too pretty to throw away.”

Bring us it all tonight!!
