Today, as we celebrate the 4th of July, we honor not only America’s independence, but also a historic milestone: 250 years since the birth of our nation.

For two and a half centuries, the American story has been shaped by courage, entrepreneurship, sacrifice, innovation, and the contributions of diverse communities who believed in the promise of this country. Among them, Latinos have played a powerful and lasting role.

From the earliest days of the American Revolution, figures such as Bernardo de Gálvez helped support the fight for independence, leading multinational forces against the British and strengthening the cause of freedom. Today, that legacy continues through more than 68 million Hispanics living in the United States, representing about 20% of the nation’s population.

The Latino community is also one of America’s strongest economic engines. U.S. Latinos now generate an estimated $4.4 trillion in economic output, and Hispanic-owned businesses represent more than 5 million firms across the country, employing nearly 3 million workers. Latino entrepreneurs, executives, innovators, scientists, artists, and business leaders continue to move America forward—from global brands and small businesses to technology, aerospace, education, healthcare, fashion, hospitality, and public service.

We celebrate the legacy of Latino visionaries and leaders such as Roberto Goizueta, Carolina Herrera, José AndrésJorge Mås Canosa, Ellen Ochoa, Luis von Ahn, and countless entrepreneurs whose names may not always make headlines, but whose work creates jobs, builds communities, and strengthens the American economy every day.

At the Northern Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, we are proud to represent a community that is deeply woven into the past, present, and future of the United States.

As America celebrates 250 years, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering businesses, elevating leaders, and creating opportunities for the next generation.

Happy Independence Day!

Today, our hearts are with Venezuela. đŸ’”đŸ‡»đŸ‡Ș

Families have lost loved ones. Communities have been shaken. Lives have changed in an instant.

In the face of this devastating tragedy, we at the Northern Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (NOVAHCC) stand in solidarity with the Venezuelan people. We are deeply moved by their strength—and by the powerful wave of compassion rising across the world.

We are especially proud of our own Northern Virginia heroes. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department’s Virginia Task Force 1 is on the ground in Venezuela, risking everything to save lives. Their courage reminds us that even in the darkest moments, humanity shows up.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Government of El Salvador and all partners delivering urgent aid, hope, and support when it matters most.

To every rescuer, volunteer, and humanitarian: you are making miracles happen every day.

Now it’s our turn to help. đŸ€

Scott Wood. The concert showcased the richness, passion, and diversity of Latin American composers through an ambitious program featuring 11 musical works representing more than nine distinguished composers from across the region.

Alex Karp CEO of Palantir has a message for anyone banking on their college degree to protect them from AI: it won’t.

“There are basically two ways to know you have a future,” the Palantir CEO said in a recent interview on TBPN. “One, you have some vocational training. Or two, you’re neurodivergent.”

“AI will destroy humanities jobs,” Karp said at the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year. “You went to an elite school, and you studied philosophy. Hopefully, you have some other skill, that one is going to be hard to market.”
