A Message to Our Friends, Followers, Clients & Customers…
Since 2016, between Antiques 86 Senior Move Managers & Minnesota Tag Sales, we have hosted 147 tag sales, an average of nearly 15 sales each season. Those sales have happened in over 30 towns in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.
We have been fortunate to help families all over the area, from all walks of life, and in varying degrees of circumstances.
Whether it was a downsizing sale, to reduce the amount of stuff in a garage, or if it was a moving sale where our clients simply couldn’t take it all with them.
Whether is was an estate sale, where the owners had passed away and the family needed help selling items they didn’t have a need for, simply couldn’t bring themselves to go through the emotions of looking through items left behind, and to get the home on the market for sale - we have been there for all of those, and everything in between.
If you know what type of work is involved to do just one of our sales, you can certainly imagine all the hours of physical and tedious work, long days and miles and miles of driving to and from the job sites over ten years and nearly 150 sales.
Our crew is comprised of folks who have selflessly devoted their valuable time to assist the company, some who have other part-time occupations in addition to working with us. They do this because they enjoy what we do for our clients and sale customers, and they have enjoyed working with Ilene - because she’s the best.
When I committed to take over the company, it was the summer of 2023, and I agreed to keep the business moving for a minimum of two years, maybe more. I spent that summer learning about how Ilene does things, what works, what doesn’t work, and what to expect. I took notes, asked her questions, tried to come up with other ways to enhance the business, and I made plans.
Then in the fall of 2023, the plan changed...
We lost my sons’ mother in late October of 2023. Some of you may remember Sandie, as she worked with us, off and on for several years. Despite having been divorced since 2007, she was the mother of my children, she was my friend, we still spent time with each other, and I loved her so.
Since her passing, I have felt more pressure to be more supportive and more present for our sons Andrew and Justin, and our grandchildren, Kendall, Everlee and Jaxon. I feel that the best way to honor her, is to be more involved in her grandchildren’s lives and being there… just as she would have wanted to be.
For that reason, in addition to just being tired, and wanting our crew to be able to spend more of their precious time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren - We are officially announcing that 2025 will be our final year of doing this business.
Our final sale will be in Slayton, Minnesota from Friday, September 12th through Sunday, September 14th, 2025. We hope to see you there, for one last big, fun tag sale.
In closing, we have been very fortunate to have made so many friends with many of our clients and our sale customers. We thank you for that.
We’ll still see you from time to time, but it will NOT be at a tag sale, at 9:00 a.m. on a beautiful Saturday or Sunday morning.
Whether it’s camping with our families, spending more time with friends, going to garage sales to buy instead of sell, doing more fishing or golfing, or just being present for our loved ones, we’ll be doing something else…
