I’m looking for the right person. Not just someone to fill a position.

As SAINT Technology Services continues to grow, I’m looking to bring another key individual onto our team. But I’m not interested in hiring someone just to fill an opening.

I’m looking for a certain caliber of person.

Someone who’s driven, ambitious, professional, and willing to take ownership. Someone who sees opportunities where others see obstacles, understands the importance of building relationships, and genuinely wants to be part of something bigger.

I’ve put a tremendous amount of time, energy, and personal commitment into building SAINT. As a veteran-owned company, we’re working to establish something meaningful in the technology and security industry, not just in Nebraska, but throughout the Midwest and beyond.

And I know that building a successful company means surrounding myself with the right people.

I’m not necessarily looking for someone with the most impressive résumé or the longest list of credentials. Experience certainly matters, but so do character, integrity, accountability, and the willingness to put in the work.

I want someone who can bring ideas to the table, challenge the way things have always been done, and help push this company forward.

Someone who doesn’t just want a position, but sees the potential to grow with a company and play a meaningful role in its future.

A cybersecurity incident serious enough to prompt an emergency proclamation and deployment of the Nebraska National Guard Cyber Protection Team should get everyone’s attention.

Governor Jim Pillen has signed an emergency proclamation following a cybersecurity incident affecting Lincoln County and the City of North Platte. The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency is now coordinating response and recovery efforts.

As someone who works in cybersecurity and owns a technology services company here in Nebraska, this is exactly why I continue emphasizing the importance of cybersecurity preparedness, especially for local governments, municipalities, and small businesses.

Cyberattacks aren’t just about stolen passwords or compromised computers anymore. They can disrupt essential public services, interfere with government operations, and potentially affect entire communities.

We don’t yet know the full scope of this incident or what caused it, and I won’t speculate. But the fact that state-level cyber resources are being mobilized should serve as a reminder that cybersecurity is no longer optional infrastructure.

My biggest question is how many municipalities across Nebraska have actually invested in proper cybersecurity protections, independent security assessments, tested backups, incident response planning, and continuous monitoring?

And how many are simply hoping something like this never happens to them?

Cybersecurity shouldn’t become a priority only after systems go down and emergency declarations are signed. Taxpayers deserve to know their local governments are taking reasonable steps to protect the systems and information they depend on.

I hope North Platte and Lincoln County recover quickly, and I appreciate the professionals working to restore operations.

This should be a wake-up call for communities across Nebraska.

Will your work computers still get Windows updates in 2027?

Microsoft says the certificates Windows Update relies on expire in May and June 2027. Computers that are up to date on a supported version of Windows are already covered. Computers that have fallen behind, or run an old unsupported version, will stop getting updates.

Quick check for Lincoln and Omaha businesses:
• Make sure every PC and server is actually installing monthly updates
• Find any machines on unsupported Windows and plan the upgrade
• Windows Server 2016 and 2019 have the earliest deadline: May 17, 2027
