Hi friends. Today's Challenge area is COSMETICS! Now, you may have a few areas in your bathroom where you store these items, but they are likely under your sink, on the counter, or in a closet.

Now, cosmetic expiration is shown differently from medicine, and typically shows a timeframe the product is good after it is opened. So, you should make your decision on what should be removed on if you are using it currently or have used it in the last few months.

Moving forward, I recommend you keep a fine-tip black sharpie near your cosmetics. When you open the product, you can calculate the date it will expire and write that month-year on the product.

Today's Declutter Challenge area is the MEDICINE CABINET or the location where you store medicine. Given medicine is very clearly labeled with expiration dates, this should be a simple task!

What is not so simple is disposing of medicine correctly. This link to FDA provides directions for properly disposing of old medicine. https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumer-updates/where-and-how-dispose-unused-medicines

So, set your timer for 5 minutes, grab zip lock bags and gather all bottles of EXPIRED or NO LONGER USED medication.

Even though some medications can be thrown away (using instructions provided by FDA) or flushed in toilet, make sure you are disposing correctly!

Great job everyone on completing the first week of our October Decluttering Challenge!

Hi Friends! Today's focus area is ONE DRESSER DRAWER. Choose the drawer that you know is an issue, but you never take time to work on it. For me, its T-shirts!

Use your 5 minutes today to pull out everything from that drawer and declutter anything that: 1) is stained or ruined, 2) doesn't fit, or 3) you haven't worn or used in a year.

As you place back in the drawers, try a different folding method. The example shows filing shirts rather than piling them. This method makes it easier to see what you have and easily pull from the drawer without messing up the other shirts.

Today's Decluttering challenge area is your NIGHTSTAND or any surface in your bedroom where clutter happens.

Keep only the essentials here: phone / alarm clock, lamp, and one small item such as a framed picture, candle, book or small plant.

You may not necessarily have "trash" here, so grab a basket for relocating items that need a new home. Set your timer for 5 minutes and GO!

Our declutter area for today is ONE KITCHEN CABINET. We all have that one that we dread opening because it is just overwhelming to go thru and find what you need! Pictures below are a before & after of my dreaded cabinet that was awkward shape and held our "paper & platic" items. By selecting the right sized bins and ruthlessly decluttering, the space is now one I am proud to show off!

Your turn! Take 5 minutes, grab a bag, and open that dreaded cabinet. Pull everything out and place on the floor. Take 20 seconds to wipe down the inside of the cabinet. Then put back only the items you use regularly. As you place items, match the lids and stack similar items together. Most used items in the front and less used items in the back.

The items not selected can be donated, stored in another area of the home or thrown away.

We are going to focus today on decluttering KITCHEN LINENS (towels, washclothes, and pot holders). This is certainly an area I personally never pay attention to. But that changes today!

For your 5 minutes today, go thru your linens and select the best ones to keep in a drawer or basket in the kitchen. Declutter those that are: 1) stained beyond repair, 2) damaged or 3) you just don't like!

Also, if you have Seasonal or Holiday linens in your kitchen, you can store these in a less prime location and use only in their seasoned

Todays' Declutter Challenge area is POTS & PANS! It is amazing how quickly extra items can accumulate. When you really think about it, you probably only use about 5 or 6 pots and pans regularly. These are the only ones that you should store in your prime area that is most accessible.

Take the 5 minutes today and select those that are: 1) damaged or unsafe to use, 2) missing lids, or 3) you haven't used in the last year.

Those that you use, but not reguarly can be stored in s a less prime location like the cabinet above the refrigerator, bottom shelf of pantry, basement, garage, or even your guest room closet!

Hi friends! Today is DAY 3 of our Fall Decluttering challenge where our focus is KITCHEN UTENSILS!

I recently went thru our Utensil drawer and removed 5 items that were duplicates (2 spoons, 1 soup ladel and 2 spatulas)! After removing those pieces of clutter, the drawer looks great and I have only what I need!

Your turn! Set the timer for 5 minutes, grab a trash bag and GO! Leave a comment about what you removed today!
