If you live near pancake hollow in highland and can’t find your goat, we found it happily snacking on our freshly laid straw!

One of the common purposes of straw over grass seed is to prevent birds from eating the grass seed….what do we put down to keep the goats from eating the straw though?

Before and after!
Take a look at this total transformation with this paver walkway and patio in new paltz. We removed the old walkway, front step, and built a permeable paver patio, walkway, and matching front step using unilock treo smooth permeable pavers on top of a 12” open grade base. We integrated the border made of unilock Camelot around the driveway to create a “picture frame” driveway border. We regraded the front yard, placed topsoil and planted grass seed, and then we cleaned up the tree line and created a clean mulch bed to border the driveway. We are very happy with how this project turned out !

This permeable paver project is almost done and it’s looking beautiful. This customer wanted everything to be square so that’s just what we did, the border stones go around the driveway as one continuous border , straight from the patio and walkway. And the patio leads up to the front step for a really clean look.

Made good progress today on our paver patio in new paltz. Our 12” open graded base is graded and compacted, we also made some measurements and set up some string lines to ensure the walkway, and borders were straight and square with both the house and property line. We cut across the driveway for a single width “picture frame” style border that will go around all 4 sides of the driveway. We also got our delivery of unilock treo smooth permeable pavers, Camelot border pavers, and concord wall blocks. Big thanks to Devitts Nursery , we had a slight issue with the wrong color paver, and they went to the supplier and got 3 pallets of the right color just a few hours later! Check in on Friday to watch the pavers as they start getting laid !

It may have been raining but we were still working!
Today we began the next step of our paver patio build by laying Geotex fabric, and then began laying our first two lifts of 3/4 stone. Because this paver patio is going to be made with permeable pavers, it requires a base of 3/4 stone to allow for drainage. Although the minimum base thickness for these permeable pavers is 6-8”, we opted for a 12” thick base of 3/4 stone. This extra stone will not only ensure this patio is stable, but will serve as extra space for water to go during heavy rainfalls. Although it started raining after our second lift was spread, it served as a great visual representation of the open grade bases ability to temporarily store water during significant rainfall events. This was less than half of what the thickness of the finished base will be, talk about a substantial base for a patio!

We are very excited to see how this project looks when finished. Stay tuned for more pictures!
