Spring in the Rockies! Need to protect those plants that survived the dry winter! 😁

A hard freeze will likely occur across all of northeast and north central Colorado Friday night. A Freeze Watch remains in effect for the Front Range Urban Corridor and northeast plains of Colorado due to the long duration of temperatures expected in the upper teens to mid 20s Friday night through Saturday morning. Be sure to drain those outdoor sprinkler systems if they've already been turned on for the season!

All the major communities have already put water restrictions into effect for this summer. Now is the time to make a plan for saving what you can and preparing for a long dry summer.

The first system is bringing light snow accumulations to the Front Range and Colorado's mountains on Tuesday.

That was one hot march! We really need some April showers.........

You may recognize this graphic (we can promise it won't be the last this week either)...

Extraordinary March heat continued today - most of our climate sites recorded new all-time records on Friday. We're still awaiting data from a few additional sites.

Here's a look at a few of the numbers that catch our eye the most 👇

FORT COLLINS:
🔴 *3rd consecutive day* setting a new all-time March record high
🔴 Tied hottest APRIL high temperature on record (89F, set April 30th, 1992)
🔴 Prior to this year, hottest recorded March temperature was 81F set in 2012
(Records date back ~130 years (1895)

CHEESMAN RESERVOIR:
🔴 First time that a high temperature of 80F or above has been observed in March since records began in 1902
🔴 Friday's high of 82F ties the hottest APRIL temperature on record (82F set April 30th, 1992)

GENERAL:
Of the 11 long-standing climate sites for which we have already received data for March 20th:
🔴 8 set new March records
🔴 Another 2 tied their March record
🔴 8 saw their previous March record (set March 19th) last for just 24 hours

Early risers on Tuesday morning will be in for a rare celestial event over the Colorado skies. As long as our expected Tuesday storm clouds can hold off, skywatchers will be able to get a glimpse of a total lunar eclipse known as a "Blood Moon".

☀️☀️☀️

It was one of the warmest and driest Februaries for much of northeast Colorado. Denver saw it's least snowiest February ever with just a trace of snowfall (tied with February, 2009). Precipitation totaled a meager 0.02", which puts us at second driest ever - tied with 2005 and only behind the 0.01" that fell in February, 1970. Meanwhile, temperatures were also extremely warm, averaging the third warmest February on record at 42.1°F. There was only one day where the high temperature did not exceed the freezing mark, and seven days where the lows didn't even reach 32°F. Records began in 1872 for temperatures and precipitation, and 1882 for snowfall.

The full summary for February can be found here:https://www.weather.gov/media/bou/Monthly_Weather_Summary_Feb_2026.pdf
