Our Story

Everyone always asks me how I got into the business of owning a record label. My answer is, I just had an idea. I was never in the music industry before I started this company, but I always had a passion for music. It’s been a part of my entire life and has proven to heal whether you realize it or not.

Live Mic Music started as just an idea in April of 2018, and it originated to be a social media like network that would connect venues with local original artists, to hopefully get hungry artists a chance to put some money in their pocket. We kept building our network of musicians, content creators, producers, all connections in the music industry spreading this dream of I don't even know what. It was hard to define what we were, and it was really hard to figure out how I could make a career out of this.

Digging deeper into the business of music, I started to learn about publishing, licensing, and distribution, which is how we got into doing music administration. I was learning something new every day in its most current state, which I feel is an advantage. Now that we had this full network of freelance content creators, and the capabilities to administer music to our local scene, I realized we created a record label, and we were going to offer the services to those who didn’t the business side.

I know that a “Record Label” has a bad stigma across the industry, known to be corporate deals that take your rights, creativity, and earnings and keep them to themselves. So we built a model that would favor the artists. Creating customized contracts based on the artists wants and needs. We do what we can, and if we can't, we know someone who can.
