🧐 What can you change in The Foundry Template?

Pretty much everything...if you want. 🤓

The essentials you'll need to update: images, text, links, site title, and domain name. But you don't have to change the colors, fonts, or layouts—unless you want to. Want to fuss with the code I put in the backend to make links change color? Go for it. I give you written and video instructions on how to modify or dismantle any of it.

When you purchase The Foundry Template, you're getting a pre-built Squarespace site that's ready to customize. You can add, change, or delete pages, sections, blocks, and styles. Or you can leave it exactly as is. And that's what makes it special—you're in control, but you're not forced to rebuild anything.

It was super to see all the yard signs for when I visited Austin this weekend! Rich had a concept and together we developed and refined it into a fantastic campaign logo. Then I made him a easy to update website that he can control and maintain himself. Are you in Austin's 9th district? If so, please check out www.richforaustin.org to see all the good work he is doing.

What's a website template, anyway?

Think of it like this: a template is a pre-built website skeleton that's already wired up and ready to go. Someone (👋 hey) has already figured out the annoying structural stuff. The layout, the code that makes things work (just a smidge of this), the mobile responsiveness, all of it.

Instead of starting from a blank screen and building everything from scratch (which takes forever and requires a few skills to make it look really nice), you get a foundation that's already solid. You just fill in your own content, swap out the images, pick your fonts, accent color, and 💥 you've got a website.

The whole point? You get to skip the technical headaches and actually focus on what matters most which is telling your story and showcasing your work.

Yes please!

Did you know that the warblers we see today in North America don’t always get their bold yellow colors from their own ancestors, but from other warbler species via hybridization?

To celebrate the sunny yellow colors of warblers we’ve got a variety of paint by numbers free downloads available: https://hubs.la/Q04myX5c0

Post your unique rendition and tag us for a chance to be featured in our story plus 5 artists will be randomly chosen to receive a free Bird Academy course, ‘Be a Better Birder: Warbler Identification.’ (6 different warblers are available, created for you by Jillian Ditner, Living Bird graphics editor)

Grrr... Squarespace just raised their rates. This is annoying and very short notice BUT I still think they are a really good value for your money compared to other website services.

In a nutshell:

⭐The Basic plan is now $228/year - This is the best option if you sell under $6000 of physical product per year.

🔥The Core plan is now $348/year - This is best if you sell more than $6000 worth of physical product per year or if you want to add extra things with code (like privacy plans, 3rd party extensions, etc) or utilize marketing tools like popups and announcement bars.

😳The Plus plan is an option only if you make over $120,000/year in website sales.
Don't even for the Advanced plan. AND if you sell Digital Products its different.

⚡️Because of this, I have decided to make the special launch rate for the Foundry PRO Template permanent. And you will get 20% off the first year with your purchase. Its a small bit of savings, its what I can do. I wish Squarespace (and other corporations) would read the room.

Creating the refreshed notsuoH website meant capturing the quirky chaos of a three-story art experiment/cocktail bar in downtown Houston. Building a digital space that reflected their ethos: eclectic, experimental, and deeply rooted in Houston history was a privilege for me. I had the pleasure of visiting notsuoH in the late 90s with my local friends before I moved to Houston for good. I designed a site that matches their energy: inventive, explorable, and full of surprises. Welcoming patrons from all over to discover nightly events, view delicious cocktail menus and understand the space's character.

🔥On my way to Michigan for the (as my alter ego ) so I am, of course, thinking about the wonderful art consulting project I worked on with the fantastic for IDEA Art Consulting back in 2024. She created 4 five foot tall prints on metal. There are different opacity levels of the white ink so the simmer of the metal played with the richness of the colors. There were other locations where we placed her work but this one was magnificent! The hospital CEO had them moved to the hallway outside of his office so he could see them everyday. I have know and worked with Ann for more than 15 years. And, who knows, I might get to see her on this trip 🤔. Scroll through to see pics of the install and of Ann in front of the panels after printing.

❤️Shameless Plug: My experience as an art consultant (over 20 years) is one of the contributing factors that went into my new website templates for artists.

Have you noticed my hustle free approach to the launch of The Foundry Template -- a squarespace website template just for artists and creatives? Is it because I can't get it together to schedule all my social media posts and marketing emails? Or is it that my intention is for this template to be around for a while, so you can purchase it when the time is right for you? A little column A and a little column B. 😀

That said, right now there is a launch special discount on the PRO template (this one includes pre-formatted e-commerce and portfolios). $100 OFF. So if you are interested check it out, send me a message, or schedule a consult call.
