Venezuela may need U.S. horsepower. The bigger question is where that capacity can actually come from.

Primary Vision tracks the fleets, capacity and basin exposure behind that answer.

TechnipFMC’s Q2 commentary points to a shift in how subsea projects are being developed.

Earlier supplier involvement, standardized solutions and portfolio based planning could help operators shorten project cycles and improve economics.

The bigger question: Does the next subsea advantage begin before project award?

Primary Vision’s Frac Spread Count™ was featured by Yahoo Finance as U.S. completion activity pulled back in August.

The count fell by 9 to 184 crews in the week ending August 21, following a 3 crew decline the week before.

Why does that matter?

Because frac activity helps show what is happening between drilling plans and actual production. That is the gap Primary Vision is built to track.

When major financial media references the Frac Spread Count™, it reinforces something important: completion activity is becoming a harder signal to ignore when assessing the direction of U.S. oil and gas.

What are you watching more closely right now: rigs, frac spreads, or actual job counts?

The biggest U.S. macro signal last week did not come from the economic calendar. It came from the bond market.

The question is no longer simply what the Fed does next.
It is what happens when higher long term borrowing costs start doing some of the tightening themselves.

And the U.S. is only one part of this week's macro story.
Europe enters winter with a different energy risk. China is confronting a different capital problem. Together, they point to a global economy facing three very different constraints.

The OFS recovery is broadening. But not every part of the cycle is moving together.
Completions are showing the strongest momentum. Production services are beginning to follow. Drilling and well construction, however, are telling a different story.

What makes this quarter particularly important is not simply where revenue grew. It is where earnings responded faster than activity, and what that may be telling us about utilization, service capacity and the structure of the OFS recovery.

Is this the beginning of a broader upstream cycle, or are we looking at a more selective recovery driven by tighter capacity?

Our latest analysis connects the Q2 earnings signals across Liberty Energy, ProPetro, Patterson UTI, ProFrac, Weatherford, NOV, SLB and Halliburton and looks at what could come next.

Over the past few posts, we have shared pieces of Primary Vision’s feature in the August 2026 edition of The American Oil & Gas Reporter. This final look brings the full story together!

The article, “Frac Spreads Must Stay Active To Meet Gas Demand,” connects a question that is becoming increasingly important for U.S. energy markets:

As AI infrastructure expands, what does growing electricity demand ultimately mean for natural gas, completions and U.S. production?

From AI power demand and gas conversion scenarios to the basins positioned to respond and the role of the Frac Spread Count™ and completion efficiency, the feature follows that chain all the way back upstream.

A fitting way to close this series and a great moment to see Primary Vision’s research beyond the screen and on the printed page.

Where do you see the strongest connection between AI infrastructure growth and upstream activity emerging?

Primary Vision was recently featured in Natural Gas Intelligence (NGI) as the market weighs a potentially larger natural gas storage build against weakening U.S. drilling and completion activity.

How should we read future supply when natural gas storage, rig activity and hydraulic fracturing activity are no longer sending the same signal?

Longer laterals are creating a bigger opportunity for frac chemical suppliers.

But bigger demand does not necessarily mean the opportunity gets distributed equally.

Primary Vision’s latest Permian analysis reveals very different approaches to how operators build their supplier mix, and those differences could become increasingly important as completions grow larger and more chemically intensive.

This is where our Frac Chemistry Inspector adds another layer. Built on public disclosure data, it helps identify who is supplying each job, what chemicals are being used, treatment types and chemical mass down to individual ingredients, turning fragmented disclosures into data that can be compared across operators and completions.

For suppliers, the question is no longer simply how much chemical demand is growing.
It is who gets to capture it.
See what the Frac Chemistry Inspector is uncovering in this week’s Monday Macro View.

Primary Vision’s Frac Spread Count™ is once again part of the wider U.S. shale conversation.

Featured by Oilprice.com, the latest FSC moved down 3 to 193 crews, even as oil prices strengthened.

That divergence is worth watching. Higher prices do not automatically translate into higher completion activity.

What will the next FSC tell us?
