As an experienced English as a Second Language Consultant and Instructor, I have been fortunate enough to provide high-quality, custom-designed language courses to first year international medical students at Memorial Herman Hospital Systems in Houston, Texas, USA.

I was able to not only upskill their Medical English but also guided them in understanding American culture and norms through a variety of interactive ventures. I also provided English lessons to their families, ensuring that everyone could communicate effectively and feel comfortable during their stay in Houston.

The Big Vibe Group (Coppa Osteria, Gratify Neighborhood Bistro) have transformed the former Dunlavy space into a contemporary Mexican kitchen that’s big on both flavor and ambiance. The gorgeous, chandelier-lit glass treehouse overlooking the bayou remains, but you’ll now find table service, a marble-top bar rife with tequila and mezcal, and a killer masa program to complement a showstopping menu exploring the small towns of Mexico. The Barbacoa de Borrego (braised and spiced lamb) is ridiculous, the Pulpo Tostada is a stunner, and you can get Parrilladas sporting the chef’s pick of seafood and meats alongside all the appropriate fixin’s.

When Should You Consider Online Corporate Language Training?

Online corporate language training can be a powerful complement to on-site instruction. While at Expats Consulting Services we strongly believe in the value of workplace-based language training, there are situations where online learning is the smartest—and most effective—solution.

Consider online language training when:

In-person instruction isn’t available in your area for the language you need.

Reflecting on My Collaboration with Marathon Oil Company

As part of my collaboration with Marathon Oil Company, I had the privilege of delivering pre-departure orientation for a group of petroleum engineers preparing for their relocation to the United States.

Once stationed in Houston, Texas, these expatriates and their families participated in a comprehensive program that included cross-cultural training, English language instruction, and a range of social integration activities designed to support their adjustment to life and work in a new cultural environment.

In addition, I provided repatriation support for employees completing their overseas assignments, focusing on both language refinement and cultural reintegration.

These comprehensive services helped ensure smooth transitions for both outbound and returning expatriates—enhancing communication, cultural awareness, and family adaptation throughout the international relocation process.
