When you look back at the end of 2023, let today be your BEFORE picture!!!

This is the time of year that people make commitments to make themselves better. Unfortunately, most people’s good intentions last less than 30 days before they revert to their old habits. Don’t let you be one of those statistic in 2023. Let this year your breakthrough year. What are your goals for 2023? Do you need to lose a few pounds? Do you want to learn a new skill? Is this the year that you want to take your business to the next level?

Your commitment to your goals today needs to push you beyond the 30 day drop-off period most people succumb. What is the solution? Go ALL IN!!!! Don’t just sign up for a gym membership, sign up for a personal trainer and pay one year in advance. Don’t just think about learning a new skill? Post it on social media, find an accountability partner, join a group. Do something so that you have a support group that will catch you when you falter. And we all will. Have you set your 2023 Goals?

Setting goals for yourself can help you focus on what you want to achieve, and provide a sense of direction. You should set your goals in the 5 F’s of Life: Faith, Family, Friends, Financial and Fitness. To set goals for yourself, try the following steps:

1. Identify your values and priorities: Take some time to think about what is most important to you, and what you want to achieve in your life. This will help you determine what your goals should be.

2. Set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals: Make sure that your goals are well-defined and specific, so that you know exactly what you are working towards. Your goals should also be measurable, so that you can track your progress and know when you have achieved them. Additionally, your goals should be achievable, relevant to your values and priorities, and have a clear deadline for completion. If you want to lose weight, your goal isn’t just Lose Weight. It should be I want to lose 10 pounds by March 31st.

3. Write down your goals: Putting your goals in writing can help you clarify your thoughts and make them more concrete. It can also help you stay motivated and accountable, as you can refer back to your goals and see how far you have come. Studies show that you are 97% more likely to complete your goals if they are in writing.

4. Create a plan: Once you have identified your goals, think about what steps you need to take to achieve them. Create a plan that outlines the specific actions you will take, and the resources you will need to do so. If your goal is for each of you salespeople to sell 20 cars a month, how do you accomplish that goal? What training do they need? What resources are they lacking? Do they share the same goal?

5. Take action: The most important step is to take action and start working towards your goals. Set aside time each day or week to focus on your goals, and make sure to track your progress and adjust your plan as needed. This is, of course, the most important step. Without action, it is a dream and not a goal.

Remember, setting goals for yourself is a process, and what works for one person may not work for another. The key is to find a method that works for you, and to stay motivated and committed to achieving your goals.

How do you know where you need improvement when closing customers? Do you isolate and track every customer that gets approved but says no? If not, how to do know where you need to improve on your skills to be able to handle those objections? Whether it be Mileage, Equipment, Price, Payment, Interest Rate and the other main ones, or if it is a more unique objection your dealership receives, without tracking, you don’t know where you need to focus your training and role playing efforts to be able to close more deals.

Are you maximizing the value of both your capital and everyone working in your dealership. It is not only important to evaluate these components when you are considering selling your dealership, but it is important to monitor everything as you are operating your dealership. Are you growing your accounts and managing your delinquencies? Are you evaluating your staff and continually training them? Are you repairing your vehicles efficiently to reduce repos? Are you managing relationships with your customers to help them solve payment issues? These are only some of the items that you should be continuously monitoring.
