Always appreciate the honest feedback from 💯

Thank you to for choosing Shaken + Stirred for her awesome book signing and "drinkmaking" needs!

"The Hustler" is a slight variation of the Sidecar, an early 20th century classic named after the motorcycle attachment (which was often used during that time period). We capped it off with our Shaken + Stirred Grapefruit + Rose bitters, adding a floral profile to citrus elements.

Sloely But Surely

Take things "sloe" with this modified gin & tonic. Sloe gin is technically a gin-based liqueur made from sloe berries and sugar. History has allowed for the "gin" name to stick, and I like sloes because they give off some blackcurrant vibes. And though you can certainly use Plymouth gin in this cocktail, I chose Gordon's simply because it is an old favorite. Plymouth's sloe gin is by far my favorite sloe gin in the market, and the uniqueness of the plant-based tonic results in a nice citrus-floral combination.

1 ounce London dry gin (Gordon's)
1 ounce sloe gin (Plymouth) 5 ounce lemon juice
3 ounces lavender plant-based tonic (Goldthread)

Fill a highball glass with ice and add all ingredients (in the order listed above). Stir and garnish with lemon peel.

On Island Time

This variation of the classic daiquiri cocktail takes me to an island without picking up the passport. The addition of banana (rum) and passion fruit (liqueur) confirms your presence on the beach and is a strong pairing (even for the bakers out there). Our Shaken + Stirred Island bitters provide a slight citrus/peppery balance to the sweeter spirits.

1.5 ounces banana rum (Bacardi) 75 ounce passion fruit liqueur (Passoã) 75 ounce lime juice25 ounce simple syrup
5 dashes SHAKEN + STIRRED Island bitters The "Drinkmaker"]

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled stemless martini glass.
Garnish with lime wheel and dried sorrel.

Nearest Exit / Route 79

U.S. Route 79 is officially labeled as a north-south highway. However, it is actually more diagonal and connects Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee and Kentucky. The "Nearest Exit/Route 79" cocktail is inspired by my love of travel and road trips, as well as by the journey from Tennessee and Texas (along with an ode to Uncle Nearest himself). Road trips are always fun, so let's take a quick trip from Texas to Tennessee and back.

1.5 ounces whiskey (Uncle Nearest 1856 American whiskey) 5 ounce jasmine liqueur (Violet Crown) 75 ounce South Texas Huajillo honey syrup75 ounce lemon juice
9 dashes efflorescent bitters
2 mint sprigs

Add a sprig of mint and honey syrup to a cocktail shaker and gently muddle the mint for 5-6 turns. Add Uncle Nearest whiskey, jasmine liqueur, bitters and fresh squeezed lemon juice to the cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake and double strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
