Provide an example of a time when you helped stakeholders understand a policy, process, and/ or procedure. What steps did you take to make sure they understood your message? What impact did it have? You spent countless of hours preparing for your interview. You even went as far as hiring a Interview Coach. On the day of your interview, you answered all the questions effortlessly and the interviewer is responding well to you. In the back of your mind, you are certain you’ll get the job offer. A week later, you receive feedback that says you’re not the right fit. You are stunned and disappointed. This leads to self doubt and second guessing yourself in your next interviews.

The best thing to do when you interview is not have any expectations. Even though you may have aced your interview, you may not be what they are looking for. Yes you have the technical skill down packed and may have a nice personality. All this is great, but you may just not fit in with the culture of the organization or department. Should this happen, Keep moving forward! You are not going to secure a job offer after each interview!

Talking negatively or complaining about your current or former employers shows lack of maturity and it also shows the interviewer you could just as easily say the same thing about their organization if they hire you. Never make yourself the victim or blame your current/ former employers for what transpired during your time of employment. Always keep it light and positive.
